only been on meds a few weeks does the feeling of been slightly breathlessness ease up . My blood pressure and oxygen levels are ok but still feel slightly breathless
curious : only been on meds a few weeks... - Atrial Fibrillati...
curious
It's possible theoretically, but also in real life. If your blood is being properly oxidated in the lungs, your oxygen level will be OK. If your blood vessels are clogged or in spasm, your BP may be OK even if the heart doesn't pump the blood as it should be. In arrhythmias, pumping capacity of the heart is lower than usual, so the breathlessness may be the sign of insufficient blood flowrate (temporarily, until NSR restored).
You recently started Bisoprolol - it does make many people SOB - short of breath and sadly, no it doesn’t go away in my experience but everyone reacts very differently. When your HR is restricted by meds your heart cannot keep up with demands your body is making when you are moving around - you shouldn’t be breathless at rest though so if you are, see your doctor.
Daily breathing exercises can help.
That’s bisoprolol for you in my experience. I wouldn’t say it eases up but some can learn to get used to it and some can’t tolerate it. It’s doing what it’s supposed to in restricting your heart rate to protect it. I learned to get used to being out of puff at the top of a hill walking. I was pleasantly surprised how much more puff I have since coming off the meds post ablation.
Best wishes
If you're on Bisoprolol, it's probably that. I insisted I came off it after 3 months as I couldn't function on it, struggling to get as far as the gate without stopping to catch my breath. Put on Diltiazem instead and have been fine with that.
From my own experience I have to agree with CDreamer and Buzby62, Bisoprolol made me tired and short of breath. My medication was changed to Diltiazem and I felt better overnight. I would phone or email to ask your cardiologist if a change of medication is suitable for you.
The thing is i am not yet under cardiologist as i have not had an appointment through yet From AE . My GP has said he will follow it up but still nothing yet
Ah right, it can take a while to get your first appointment.
But if you have been on medication for a few weeks it would be worth asking your GP about changing your medication whilst you're waiting.
Before I saw my cardiologist for the first time, my GP would email the cardiology department to ask about making any changes to my medication. They wouldn't do anything without their direction, and I had to wait until they had a reply before changes were made.
If it's bothering you I would go down that route, you could be waiting a couple of months otherwise.
Is this puffed out on exertion or more like a feeling of needing to breathe in more deeply, occasionally (i.e. what seems to be called"air hunger")?
A beta blocker tablet can also cause a reduced cardiac output, too, I gather, even when there's no AF happening. I would ask your GP.

Hi
? what are your meds and dosages?
Metoprolol was a disaster for me. Breathless and pauses at night. Are you asthmatic? I'm not but ACE made me coughand cough.
You say BP and Heart Rate OK but what are they>

If you are on Bisoprolol, it might be too high a dose for you. The lowest dose brought my heart rate down too low and the pharmacist told me to stop taking it after three days. And don’t be anxious as anxiety is very bad for us (apologies as it’s your chosen “name”)
