Hi folks

Ive had another week of highs and lows with my AF. usually pretty good during the day and as soon as i get home from work my AF kicks in. Ive also been waking up with it in the morning. Heart rate not in AF has been between 55 and 65 and when im in AF it can shoot up to 150/160 but probably averaging about 125/130. My doctor got in touch with my cardiologist and he has now recommended scrapping the daily dose of 200mg of flecainide and 2.5mg of Bisoprolol and changing to Dronedarone and thinners. Having looked at some of the side effects of Dronedarone im already having doubts about starting them. Common side effects include congestive heart failure. That doesn't sound too good in my head. Has anyone had experience with this drug ?

My neighbour at our old house had tried everything, and dronedarone stopped AF completely. As far as I know it still has. Hope it helps you too.

Hello Trout , I am on dronedarone and have had no side effects . You do require 6 monthly bloods to check your liver , as it can affect this . For me , it works very well but I’ve read on the forum that it hasn’t been as successful for others . Definitely worth a try though .

Hi I was on dronedarone for 9 months. My PAF was worse. I had extremely dry skin and my fingers and toes were painful. So much so I couldn't pick any small items up. Sounds weird but true. Continued with dronedarone but it made made no difference what's so ever. I spoke with Doctor who informed cardiology. Was put back on Sotolol and Bisoprolol. So maybe works for some and not others.

Hi

Have taken Dronedarone for more than six years now. Initially no AF but during this last year there is a diminishing effect of the drug with the occasional breakthrough and in my case a duration of up to 12 hours. No obvious side effects and blood control of kidneys and liver once a year. Apart from Dronedarone I take Apixaban 5mg x2 . I am 83 years old and reasonably fit for my age. Have had AFIB since 2003.

I took it for 5-7 months. No side effects but didn't stop the afib so went on amiodarone instead. My cardiologist thought latter is safer, my EP doesn't much like either and prefers to try yet another ablation (4th in 4.5 years 😱)
