Second ablation

4 months ago I wrote how nervous I was about having another ablation after suffering a tamponade during my first 10 years ago. I had second ablation under GA on 30th September and all went well. I did have an infection and lump at the groin entry site but that cleared up after a week of antibiotics. I read the leaflet that Bob et al put together a few times before and after the event and pleased I did as I had the flashing zig zags in my eyes for a couple of days. I'll be 80 in November so age was a concern too but apart from frequent ectopics all is great. Treatment by all NHS staff involved was wonderful.

I should have added I also.previously posted about my hesitation to start taking flecainide without being monitored but I was prescribed it while in hospital after ablation and it's going well.

Hi Liz, it's good to hear that your ablation went well. How are you feeling now and have you stopped taking the Flecainide yet?

Hi Jean, I feel great, in part due to elation that I went through with the ablation after dreading it for so long. I'm still taking flecainide but will discuss it at my follow up appointment on 2nd December.

Thank you Cavalierrubie, what lovely things to say. I do feel proud of myself! My afib episodes were becoming too frequent and lasting too long and I needed to get some quality of life back. I'm so pleased I decided to go ahead with second ablation.

Well done Liz, you've been very strong to manage the understandable anxiety and get it done. I hope you find the cardiac peace you deserve!

Thanks Mugsy15. I replied to you earlier but it seems to have disappeared. I do feel very pleased with myself. I was dreading the possibility of another tamponade but all went well. Fingers crossed for cardiac peace.

That's good to read, Liz from Lancashire! It's that Northern blood and soul that helped you through!!

I had the aura migraines for 10 days but nothing since, that was in March. It was something that scared me at the time I thought I was having a stroke. Came every day and then miraculously disappeared

That must have been worrying lasting so long. Mine were only 2 or 3 days and as I'd read Bob's leaflet I wasn't concerned, more fascinated. Such interesting patterns. I wouldn't have liked it to go on for 10 days though.

Yes, I believe it's something to do with the transeptal puncture, how strange! I was told they would disappear once the hole healed and they did. I had headaches with mine too. In fact I could see it starting with my eyes closed even if I woke in the night. It started as a small flickering circle in the middle of my eyes and then gradually widened. Such pretty colours, like looking into a kaleidoscope. The headache came after the vision disturbance.I contacted the arrythmia nurses and they said some people get this and not to worry. Apart from this and a strange sort of indigestion that only bothered me when I lay down I recovered pretty quickly. I was walking a short distance to Tesco for coffee the day after I came out and went for lunch at a garden centre 4 days later Luckily yours was only a few days ❤️

Yes, exactly like looking into a kaleidoscope. Perfect zig zags. I didn't recover as quickly as you because of the infection but the day after the antibiotics finished I felt great. Sitting in and pottering in the garden just now. Mild and sunny.
