After an Afib episode lasting 24 hours yesterday, I now have upper back pain, is this a normal consequence? It's an effort to take a big breath and feels like my heart is still recovering from the palpitations, is this a common feeling? Thanks

Back pain after Afib episode
If that continues I would get medical advice, it is possible the AF was related to a virus or something else.
Not really common in my experience. I would seek medical attention because the combination of upper back pain and difficulty breathing could be a sign of a more serious medical issue involving either the heart or lungs. Hopefully not that at all, but best to err on the safe side. And if this is combined with chest pain, I would call emergency services now.

Never had pain in upper back from AF.
I usually get an ache /pain across my upper back after an episode of AF as all of them last roughly 10 hours.

I've never ever had pain like you describe and I've had AF for 19 years. I would seek medical advice as soon as possible, even if it's just to put your mind at rest.

Could you possibly have strained your back before the a-fib episode, and that's what caused it in the first place? Or maybe respiratory problems (allergies) having a similar effect? Just a thought...
I had that kind of pain with pericarditis, it eventually went to my shoulder. Worth getting a medical opinion on that.
