My dad needs to do catheter ablation. But in our country Slovenia the waiting line is 3 years so he is thinking to do the procedure abroad. I am wondering if anybody know for any good doctor/clinic in Europe and how much does this procedure cost?

Thank you!

Hi. I'm from Croatia so maybe you should check the possibility to do it here. I did it in Rijeka and the EP is well experienced in ablations with probably more than thousand already done. Waiting here is around 2-3 months only.

Royal Brompton Hospital in Cambridge, UK. They were the first in the UK to do PFA catheter ablation. Cost about a year ago was 16-18,000 USD. Wait a couple of months.

Professor Richard Schilling, Radcliffe Cardiology, UK. If I remember the cost and a wait time was about the same. You could save a bit if you did not opt for general anesthesia, which would not be my preference anyway. He does Cryo. High volume.

They all are very approachable as a private patient and offer remote consultations at a reasonable fee. Just contact the hospital or office and make sure you say you would be paying private.

I had Professor Schilling end of February. Total cost was near £16k The biggest cost was the hospital facilities.

Was that with or without General Anastasia, which I think is about a $2000 add-on? What was your overall experience with Professor Schilling and the team?

Oh I was anaesthetised! I have very high autonomic reactions, can push people away or worse without any knowledge of it coming!

The clinic I had it done was The OneWelbeck in London by Professor Schilling. The medics fees seemed cheap, it was the hospital fees seemed astronomical for just a day case.

I've heard of people going to Latvia for very good and reasonable priced surgery. I don't know if that includes heart conditions though 🙏

I would never ever go to any other country other than my own. I’ve had botched eye surgery, defective lens implants and can do nothing legally or physically about it. I may go blind in my left eye! And had it done by top UK surgeon in a top hospital privately. Can’t sue 🤬

I had my ablations done by the Bordeaux group in Pessac , France where the ablation procedure was first pioneered. My last ablation was by Dr. Jais.

Were you impressed ?

How many ablations have you had there ?

Thanks

Yes, I was really impressed. I had three ablations there ( which I paid for myself) to confirm how impressed I was. The Bordeaux group is very up-to-date and is still pioneering.

I forgot to mention that my waiting time was one month. The Pessac hospital is set up for foreign patients.
