Yes as eating can put you in AF, it can also take you out of it.

Yes. What puts you in afib can often take you out of a fib.

I always avoided coffee and sugar, two of my Afib triggers. However, one day, while in afib, I had a cup of coffee with a sugar donut. Converted to normal rhythm within 10 minutes.

This became my go-to conversion method for afib -- (1) Go into afib; (2) Get my heart rate down to around 100 with rate drugs; (3) Then a nice cup of coffee and a donut.

It worked like clockwork for about a year. And then it didn't anymore.

So the coffee and donut were replaced by Flecainide. And eventually by ablation.

It's hard to find many good things to say about being in afib, but I must say I always looked forward to the coffee and donut!

It's weird isn't it.

I once went out of AF after having a glass of wine and eating Doritos (blue bag). Must say your donut remedy sounds good. I have some in my freezer ready for my gardener when he next turns up. Now I feel forced to have one myself. How I'll hate that but sometimes you have to suffer to get cured (cough, cough).

Having boasted on here that Flecainide had put an end to my episodes of AF, I am now having one! Have just taken my 100mg of Flecainide and hope things settle down soon as it’s quite scary! I’d forgotten as it’s over a year and a half since the last one!!

Here's to hoping the Flecainide does its job.

Just did another reading with my Kardia and all back to normal heartwise if not otherwise!

Is your flecainide a daily dose or a PIP?

I was lucky that my AF yesterday was stopped within an hour by 100mg flecainide PIP (importantly taken within 10 mins of becoming aware of the AF). Fastest resolution ever for me. Next time?🤔

Daily. I started taking it as a PIP but that was a while ago.

I hear ya….my bouts are well spread apart…sometimes 2 years.

Sorry. Hopefully the extra Flecainide will do it.

It did!

Great! That extra 50 or 100 mg always has done the trick with me. In my case, I often continued with the daily dose until things calmed down a bit,

I’ll continue with my daily dosage of 50 and 100. This episode lasted far less time than the previous one over a year and a half ago.

Have not done that with food but have with cold drinks.

My EP says I have vagally induced AF and many say that you should only eat small amounts of food. My AF sometimes occurs after a bike ride. I can feel it trying to start, but a good meal will settle things down and the feelings go away.My go to cure if AF develops is to get back on the bike the next day and cycle up a hill. Works every time. What causes A F to start, can also stop it.

My afib often starts in the early hours of the morning . I can usually sleep though frequent trips to the loo are disruptive. I often revert to NSR after eating my breakfast.

Yes, but don't forget breakfast coincides with less of a night-time sleep-time vagal drive which will tend away from AF.

Having muesli with fruit etc hasn’t worked at stopping mine so I do hope the Flecainide will do the trick and am resting in bed now. Just when I thought the regular Flecainide had put an end to my episodes!!

How long did the episode last, and are you sure it is Afib?

That's happened to me on numerous a-fib occasions. I'd be in a-fib from an early morning bout, but after having breakfast and tea the following morning (I'm in the US -- yes, we drink tea!) it will sometimes jolt me back into NSR.

Yes, it's the *balance* of adrenergic and vagal drives which can upset the heart and cause or terminate an episode. I know a very large meal will risk me getting an attack, but I find a wee bit of supper before bed tends to quieten my heart at night.

Hi I’m interested in your ‘adrenergic’ reference. I’ve not heard that before, would you mind explaining? Thank you
