I took it for very short while, gave me stomach upset and saw absolutely no benefit. I understand it may help muscle recovery after exercise to get glucose into the muscle quickly but as it is a simple sugar I think to be used with care as can lower blood sugar and recommended for short term use only.

What was "very short while", and if it was for only for a short while, how could you tell that it did not help? What were you looking for it to do? Thanks.

A week and I was taking for muscle recovery I thought but turned out I had an autoimmune condition which causes muscle weakness. Why do yo want to take it?

To eliminate Afib. Thanks.

I have been taking 15 grams/day, for 7 weeks. together with L-carnitine and Ubiquinol and since then my daily events of PAF have stopped completely. I must add that at the same time I also started with Sertraline, an anti-depressant with a weak anti-cholinergic effect.

Before that I took 400 mg of Flecainide per day and had daily AF-episodes.

Do you know which one helped with the afib, or was it the combination? I am not really familiar with most of these and would like to know more.

I must honestly admit that I do not know if it is the ‘holy trinity’ (Ribose, Carnitine, Q10) that did the job, or the Sertraline, or the combination. In any case, the result is impressive.

Yes, it really is impressive! I guess I'll try to do a little research on my own.

Well, first thing I looked up was sertraline, and it's not that. It can actually cause arrythmia.

There’s more to it than that: Sertraline has a mild anti-cholinergic effect that has been proved to help with vagally triggered AF. Moreover, Sertraline decreases anxiety and stress, two other important AF triggers. On the other hand, the ‘holy trinity’ has proved effective for strengthening the heart muscle and for terminating AF. If you do a google search with key words ‘D-Ribose’ and ‘Afib’, you’ll find more details. Good luck!

I my wife took D-Mannose to cure a yeast infection and it worked very well while she was taking it but it was very expensive and she now is on permanent antibiotics from the Dr. Her stomach was very badly damaged during an operation that did not go according to plan.

All the best.

Did she take D-mannose for afib? If so, how much? I take it for UTIs.

I took 5g per day. Extra when I was going to be more active. Nearly a kilo over time. I don't think it made any difference for my AF. Have been looking at creatine and wondering if it could help.

We've used it daily for years, husband for HF (prior to afib diagnosis) and me for other energy issues. Roughly 10g per day in 2 doses but always aiming for 3 doses per day (15g).

Again, as some above, very hard to say if it helps or not as we both take rather large cocktails of supplements and drugs. For me though with the research I've read (among others cardiologist Stephen Sinatra and his Metabolic Cardiology book) I'd rather keep taking it...

I have taken it for years to get energy to muscles. Including heart muscle. I don’t take any drugs for my heart and believe it is good for my overall well being. I also did life style changes that helped my heart. My husband takes it to help with muscle energy too. He is a UPS driver and needs his muscles to go all day. He thinks it helps. So we continue. I started taking it for past fibromyalgia diagnosis that has been in remission for about 7 years now. I do take a lot of other supplements but believe in this one enough not to stop taking it. I never want fibro or heart trouble to come back.
