Hello all I have proximal afib but my kardia shows afib but heartrate in 60s I'm on sotalol and edoxaban is it normal to have afib with low rate
A fib low heartrate: Hello all I have... - Atrial Fibrillati...
A fib low heartrate
Assuming it's really afib (Kardia is sometimes wrong) it is normal to have afib with a slow rate, although the majority have it with a fast rste.

A heart rate 60-90 is normal, not a low heart rate. I have had AF with both normal and fast heart rate. It has a mind of its own and unpredictable, so nothing there to be concerned about.
Until April 2024 I had been on 5mg Bisoprolol for 14 years. My regular heart beat was around 60 to 64 during daytime and at night when asleep often would drop to around 46 bpm. For me, a guy arounf 5ft. 11 inches and 15 stone at the time this was far too low. Following my consultation in April with my new Cardiologist he changed my dose to Sotalol 40mg in morning and night ............ sorted.
Maybe you need to talk to your medical whizz kid with a view to tweaking your Sotalol dose ( depending on what it is ). Very unlikely that the cause will be Edoxaban.
That said I couldn't handle Edoxaban and returned to my old buddy ..... Warfarin.
I have never had an episode of AF higher than about 71 caught on a monitor. My lowest rate when in AF is about 62.
It can be with a beta blocker such as sotalol which slows the heart rate. Also, AF can exist at any heart rate as the AF is at the very top of the heart, whereas the pulse derives from the bottom chambers (i.e. the ventricles) which can remain largely unaffected by what is happening "upstairs" so to speak.
Your Kardia (as with all home ECGs) can struggle sometimes to determine AF accurately, especially when the rate is below 100bpm and especially if certain other conditions exist (e.g. a bundle block causing a wide QRS). In those cases the reported AF might in reality be anther arrhythmia such as persistent ectopic beats or palpitations rather than AF itself.
If you could post a trace from your Kardia here, that would be interesting. An elderly friend who has persistent AF has a heart rate similar to yours, varying between 80-90bom, for example and if I put my Apple Watch on him, it always reads "Atrial Fibrillation" in nice bright yellow! He is symptomless, however, and, at 90, amazingly well.

Hi
Yes for rapid heart rate - that was me and persistent.
186 with Metoprolol. 156 with Bisoprolol
but CCB Diltiazem 120mg AM 60s Day Great & 47bpm avg Night but pauses with Metoprolol at night.
60s not low. 50s or under Day low.
? what makes it low your meds?
Diltiazem CD for me has a 1/2 life. So ideal and doesn't upset my 47bpm which is so normal with or without meds.
Stop worrying.
Trouble is alot of AFers have an ablation and they find it low & heading for a pacemaker to take over at low levels. But it is how you feel. I feel great on 60s h/rate Day.

Perhaps, as your heart rate is irregular, your heart is partly in fibrillation, even though it isn’t both fast and itregular.
My heart rate is between 45-55 typically never higher than high 50s to be honest,as far as I know ,I've never had any problems.I was diagnosed with AFIB 15 years ago .
mine us all over the place when in afib. But i have tachy/brady variety. Mostly over 100
Have had PAF at both high and low pulse rates. As I have no symptoms the only way I know I'm in AF is when I randomly check on Kardia or BP monitor. Taking Bisoprolol 1.25mg , Edoxaban 60mg daily andFlecainide 50mg twice a day.
I have noticed that my heart rate in afib tends to slow down to near normal a few minutes before it goes back to NSR. (I usually have a rate about 15 bpm higher than NSR). Nothing to worry about in any case.
