Sotalol
I used to be on bisoperol but consultant changed it to verapamil as he said as I had asthma bisoperol makes asthma worse which it certainly did with me but I am absolutely fine on the verapamil and apixoban can breathe now and don't get out of breath hope this is helpful

Previous threads on Sotalol. Also, may want to google. Keep in mind we are all different. Generally, seems to be well tolerated.
The key is your doctor knows your history and thinks it appropriate.
Hi
Best to try another BB or change to ACE.
ACE made me cough and metoprolol made me breathless. I have no asthma but get allergy to some things like eucaptysis.
Metoprolol is reknown to cause breathless with AF patients and the H/Rate stayed uncontrolled at 186bpm Day. But I got pauses at night. Night rate stays 47avg bpm.
Patience and a 24hr heart monitor would be helpful

I swapped a while ago, seemed to keep the lid in AF with no apparent effects. Now post ablation ands till taking it until my review so hopefully you should be OK.
That sounds a bit like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire! I was on sotalol for 2 years and found it quite bad, I easily became breathless on it. If it doesn't stop the AF and leaves you breathless I would try something else. For me, no drugs were much better than sotalol and diltiazem, a calcium channel blocker, kept a lid on things.
I was on Sotalol and took 80mg twice a day and had to cut down to 40 twice a day because it made me short of breath! Got off from it because it was not lowering my heart rate because of the lower dose!
did that fix it?
