Try the British Nutrition Foundation website. It’s better to adjust your way of eating than go on a crash diet but if you are impatient you could try a Michael Mosely diet - Fast 8 etc.

Search Weston A Price and request their info pack which includes "Timeless Principles of Healthy Traditional Diets."

We discovered them 15 years ago and still use them as one of the most trusted and effective information sources.

Also top source: doctor-natasha.com.

I’ve never been overweight in my life but I’ve been put on a statins too. We have a healthy diet, no meat or dairy and lots of fruit and veg. Sadly, with chronic fatigue I am no longer able to go on the long walks in the countryside where we live, that I used to enjoy. I couldn’t take the lowest dose of Bisoprolol daily as it brought my heart rate down too low and as regular Flecainide has put an end to my af episodes I no longer take an anticoagulant and still here at 80 and a third! But we are all different and I hope you find something that works for you.

Read labels and don't eat anything that has ingredients that you wouldn't have in your kitchen. Cut down on red meat , increase vegetables and cut out all cakes biscuits, crisps etc. Cut right back on alcohol. Cook from scratch. I did that and lost 2 stone after my heart attack without even noticing. Tne BHF main page has hundreds of heart healthy recipes.

For clear recipes with pictures and a customisable search I like DietDoctor.com

Don’t be put off by the name it was founded by a Swedish doctor many moons ago and in Swedish the word “diet” is used meaning nutrition and nutritional approach.

Also it’s not just keto or low carb the recipes are customisable to suit. There are also fantastic easy to use visual guides of various food groups as well as medical articles.

Best of luck

Hello Saffron.

I've been on Atorvastatin for about 7 years now, not sure what the original reason was as I've never suffered from High Cholesterol, but they insisted that I take it as a precaution.

Quite strange that you have asked me this as I've just had to stop taking them from last night, the reason being that in the last few nights before going to bed I have taken the Statin 20mg and within 45 minutes my body has been covered with itching Hives, absolutely awful, never suspected the Statin straight away, but after a couple more incidents the same i thought what am i doing to trigger this situation, Statin was the only thing, all ok all day.

Took a Urine Sample to the doctors as I suspected a Urine Infection, explained the hives breakout to the doctors and they said stop taking them now.

Regarding generally Saffron, cant say Ive had an issue with them, but with taking other medication as well you never actually know the culprit.

Sorry to go on but thats where I am at the moment with Atorvastatin, If you need any other information I just want to talk about how you feel with them please let me know.

Regards

John
