80-100bpm isn't especially fast and can, I suppose, be caused by a dream? Can you give a bit more detail, perhaps?

Well the meds seem to be wearing off at that time as I take them at 10 am half life is about 4 to 6 hours I am assuming that it that not has a afib with it could be my body adjusting to them as I have had problems with bi and verapamil and digoxin all of them give me side effects waiting to see cardiology for a consultation on ablation they seem to given up on medication or have a limited inventory

I think that drug half life can vary between individuals owing to metabolism and liver enzymes.

So much of what we feel can be part of an unrecognised anxiety response and untangling the physical from the psychological, at least in my case, is nigh on impossible.

I also can get upto 168 bpm when working which quickly goes back to about 65/70 BPM after a few mins I hope that's the 1.25 mg of bisoprolol

It’s normal and definitely not a fast heart rate. Mine jumps up to about 87 every morning on waking too. As soon as I sit up and move. It jumps up from around 50bpm in my sleep.

My advice is to stop looking at your watch. It’s only going to make you feel anxious. Your heart beat is meant to go up and down with the normal reflex response and you’re picking up on minute changes that really don’t mean anything bad.

Thanks I think you hit the nail on the head I find doctors info very lacking and my cardio information from hospital a bit lacking you do feel sometimes your own your own thanks again

Bisoprolol only reduces heart rate and does nothing for the irregularity which is our problem- you need Flecainide to do that. It works for me and I haven’t had an episode for 16 months now and that one, ended with an extra pill after a few hours, must have arrived with an episode of covid, with no other symptoms but a positive test.

It’s doesn’t only control the rate, it reduces the force of the beat which helps protect the hearts walls for people who are at risk of hypertrophy and scarring etc . It’s often a drug much maligned but it has a huge amount of benefit.

Yes it does but I get a few ectopic beats when on bisoprolol after a few weeks use I am on my second attempt now

I’ve always continued to have ectopics. They’re not dangerous so your cardiologist won’t be concerned unless you’re having over 20,000 a day. I’ve learnt to live with mine. They’re like headaches. Everyone gets them at some point and they’re rarely anything to be overly concerned about.

I’m on 25mg of carvedilol a day and it’s never stopped mine. Ectopics are not a concern unless you have a high burden. For some people though, ectopics can cause gradual issues with the LV. That’s not the point of the beta blocker. Beta blockers are to protect the heart against damage. They won’t stop your ectopics beats but they may slow them.

Well, as we know here, we are all different.

I agree, I find Biso is far more effective than Verapamil and by taking my 1.25mg at night, the tiredness in the day is far less. Despite its reputation , I think it's a wonderful drug. My one complaint is ,that here in South Africa, the lowest dose is 2.50 mg and I have to half them, and they are a silly heart shape (Merck) and that is difficult. It appears all the brands available here are that daft shape - cheap Valentine's presents I suppose !

That's a low range of meds do you still get palpitations late at night as now I have been on bisoprolol they have just started again after being on them for 14 days

No, I am basically asymptomatic - mine PAV is very familial, all my sisters have it - so did my late father, I do get breathless from time to time, but I am asthmatic, and despite the fact that I have read on here that people with Asthma have been told by their specialists that they should not have BBs - Three Cardiologists have told me that they are Cardiac specific and I can take them. All I know is they do keep my heart happy ! (meant 2.5mg in my previous post !)
