Good Afternoon everyone i wondered if anyone on here knows much about the procedure Ablation with Mapping at Glenfield because i am having it done hopefully to control SVT.Kind Regards Andrew๐

Ablation with mapping
Hi, my understanding is that mapping is just an extra probe on the catheter so the EP can pinpoint where the rogue electrical activity is generated from and ablate that tissue.
I had cryoablation of pulmonary veins without mapping as that is usually where AF generates from and sometimes is followed up with a second ablation by RF with mapping. 60% chance of working on the first one and 80% or 90% after the second if needed with mapping.
Best wishes
Thank you your reply is greatly appreciated and very positive

I had an AcQmap ablation. Is that what you are having. ?
I had my ablation under Professor Ng at Glenfield on the 26th of March this year. I understand they use the latest technology in ablation equipment and mapping. Although I don't know much more I was put under research for a year under Biosense Webster (I think - part of the Johnson and Johnson group) who have developed this latest technology. I do know that the burn time is vastly reduced to 4 seconds each burn but uses higher frequency.
I had mine under sedation and whilst I did feel some discomfort they kept sending me into 'la la land' ๐
I recovered well, out of hospital the next day and walking the day after.
I still get some reflux depending on what I eat and when. I am on week 8 so still 4 more weeks of the blanking period.
They did discover atrial flutter at the same time so I got two for one!!
My heart has behaved ever since though ๐ค
Thank you Karen I will be seeing Professor Ng too, not sure when at the moment.Im glad you are recovering well just take it easy.Kind Regards Andrew ๐๐๐
Hi Andrew, you are in the very best of hands with Professor Ng. My friend found him for me when he did an article for the Sunday Times. He is an expert in his field and is known internationally too. I saw him privately as the wait list was too long and have continued to do so over the last 3 years. I did have the Ablation under the NHS but waited over a year.
Thank you Karen he seems a lovely man and it is very comforting to hear yours and other peoples experiences.Thank you for your kind words.Kind Regards Andrew ๐๐
I had my ablation there (for atrial flutter) in 2019 and I think itโs a leading centre with extraordinarily good specialists. It now uses the latest technique of pulsed field technology for ablations, I gather, so itโs all good news.
The problem with atrial conduction issues is locating which cells are misbehaving and causing the arrhythmia. Sometimes these are in a single location, i.e. have a single focus, but sometimes it is โmultifocalโ and more difficult to ablate. The mapping is a way of finding the exact position of the aberrant cells so they can be treated.
Iโll be having similar to you in about a yearโs time, I imagine, given the waiting list.
Steve
I had an ablation for SVT and AFib at Glenfield, last September, done by Dr Sandilands. It was done under a local with sedation. I was very nervous about having it done, but they looked after me and I was told it went well. Dr Sandilands said he had done over 2000 ablations, so heโs very experienced. Iโve been ok since then.I just had some ectopic beats for a few weeks, but theyโre not so bad now. ๐ค๐คI wonโt get either again.
