post PF ablation

I had a PF ablation in November 23.

For anyone going for one of these it really was ok and certainly not a painful experience

They found that I had a extra pulmonary vein so it was a bit complicated and the surgeon said they did a good work around.

Everything was going fine which was bliss! but just after 12 weeks, I had my first AF episode lasting about 12 hours. Then 10 days later according to the monitor reading a more regular atrial tachycardia episode. Again lasting about 12 hours.

Never had Atrial tachycardia before the ablation, but reading on here it does happen.

The consultant thinks that one of the veins may have reconnected, so I am waiting for a 2nd ablation. Which will be a RF ablation. NHS, so just have to wait and strikes will probably push it back.

Interesting post, especially the extra PV.

Another way of looking at it is that it hasn’t finished disconnecting and may do so as the scarring develops, as is said on here some are still improving a year or so later and the 3 month blanking period is not a fixed point, we’re all different.

Best wishes

Similar happened to me, second ablation sorted things. I have one co- joined PV.

Very interesting experience. Many thanks for sharing. It's worth remembering that PF ablation for AF is not necessarily more effective than regular RF ablation and has its own complexities. The only real advantage is that it's supposed to be safer than RF ablation but only if done properly. Can I ask why the second ablation will be RF? My own opinion is that ablation for AF is a waste of time. If I suffered from AF I would look into the mini maze procedure.

The Consultant decided in his opinion to burn/( his words!)RF for the 2nd ablation.

Really going with the consultants decision as he is the expert.
