First Holter Monitor in 10 years

just had all my chest hair ripped out. Doc says it’s not Afib, just back to back PaCs

Something has changed, even if that’s correct prior to 1 month ago I only ever got PACs when AFIB was coming. Never randomly or for prolonged periods.

Not discussed the new medicine he gave me. Could possibly be that.

Not a happy bunny.

Hiya - so sorry to hear that. Just shows that you are not always completely out of the woods. What was the new med?

Anything changed in your life which could have triggered something? Just a thought.

It’s called Aspenon (Japanese name for Aprindine Hydrochloride) which is a sodium channel blocker. That in addition to Bepricor and bisoprolol.

My holter showed no AF but 20% of my heartbeats were PAC/PVC.

My EP is not concerned by this at all, I was, am concerned as it’s new.

For the past few years I have been having 1 episode over month to six weeks, I can manage that, lasts between 6-9 hours usually.

Only get (or got) PAC/PVC immediately before an episode.

If I took my pocket meds it would stop it, too late and the episode would come.

Anyway, I came away with 10 Valium pills because “you’re too anxious, don’t worry about it”.

He said “holter doesn’t lie, you had no AF so don’t worry.”

This is my EP, the same one who did my ablation in 2015.

He said I can have a day off from the Aspenon to test if it’s a side effect.

So I am doing that tomorrow.

Hope all settles down for you. I know I had a lot of PAC after ablation, never had them before and found them as distressing if not more so than AF - at least I knew where I was with AF and episodes would stop!

Couplets, triplets, bigeminy and trigemini are all names for back-to-back ectopic beats, whether PAC or PVC. I get them so much as present that it is distracting and hard going. An extra bisoprolol (1.25mg) does seem to be helping this last couple of days, and I am seeing the cardiologist who did my ablation in 2019 this Tuesday for more advice.

Let us know what transpires and how you get on. Ectopics can be as difficult and draining to deal with as AF in my experience. The diazepam might well help little. I have some for neck spasm but I occasionally take one for the anxiety these ectopics cause.
