Help with a Holter monitor query

Hello again, I hope someone can help. 3 days ago I was fitted with a Holter 'thingy' to check what my heart was doing 24/7. But I'm not sure if it's doing its thing properly, because on the very first night I managed to separate the monitor from the adhesive pad, got it back together and I think I sorted it out, but I was told there would be a flashing green light (which indeed there was) but it is now white, does that mean it might not be working properly? Would be very grateful for any help...thanks in advance.

You really need to call the centre where you had it fitted. Since these things are all different it would be wrong to comment.

Yes I've tried that but they're closed today so my week of having to wear it will need to be extended...ugh, but thanks for replying. Ever onwards!

I think it may not be detecting your heart rate. Have you put it all back together correctly?

Hi Jean, well that's my worry, I've to wear it for a week and if it's not registering properly then I've already wasted a few days. It flashes regularly every 4 seconds but it's not green it's white and, a couple of times it's emitted a siren-like sound so I don't think it's working. Going to take it off later to enjoy a bath, maybe that might help reset it in some way? Anyway, the place where it was fitted will be open again on Monday, just think the past couple of days have been pointless! Thanks so much for responding. xx

I know these appliances can be quite different, but maybe to ease your mind the last time I had a holster test I was told that the green light flashes whilst it is setting up when you first put it on, just for a few seconds then no lights at all. I’m sure you will ask about this in due course, but don’t assume it’s not recording you right now.

Sorry I meant to say holter test. A holster test is only for gunfighters with AF

😂 Hi Bob, what I've got is something called Novacor, a very neat little gadget that only requires 1 lead from monitor to heart area instead of a multitude of them all over the chest area. Tbh the fitting was all a bit rushed , just stuck on and 'see you soon', so going back tomorrow for a fuller explanation of it all. Seeing cardiologist on Thursday for an update on all the multitude of tests he's done, including CT heart scan, but if he's looking for a week's reading on the monitor, he will be disappointed! Thanks so much for getting back to me on this....x

You are welcome. My last 48 hour ECG was one of the new Novacor ones. I found it much less intrusive than the old type with all the trailing wires, but it was only for 48 hours so I managed to avoid displacing anything and the reading came out as it should. Good luck with your tests!
