Well, after 3 years in Afib and a failed ablation I had a cardioversion just over a week ago, and I am pleased to say I am in Normal Sinus Rhythm ( well, fingers crossed )!..Just a point. I was a runner before getting Afib, so my pulse was always low ( High 40's, 50 )...

Before cardioversion my resting pulse was about 82, but now its steady and back down to about 48-50 ( my runners rate ). I feel Ok and am due a follow up in 3 weeks, but has anyone else had a fairly low pulse following this procedure?....Interested to know your experiences!

It sounds like now that you're back in normal rhythm your pulse is back to its normal rate of 48-50. It's not surprising that your rate in afib was higher.

I think the same as Jim, as you are in Normal Sinus Rhythm your pulse is back to Normal.

Long may it continue, best wishes

yes I’ve had a few CV’s and the rate was quite low after my last one a month ago.. it’s improving but got as low as 40-45 my normal HR in sinus is 60-65 so the doctor tweaked the drugs I’m taking for the first month or so. I’m on 25mg Flecainide originally 50mg and 12.5m of metoprolol

Cheers, yes phoned the doc. Hospital reduced my Bisoprolol to 5mg from 7.5...Still a bit low I think but doc says its the beta blocker and I am due a review in just over 2 weeks

Hi, you don't say whether you are taking Bisoprolol or anything similar, if you are that would also make your pulse lower. Re low pulse, my experience was I thought my low pulse 55 was due to my fitness, regular gym, swimming etc, turned out it was caused by leaky heart valve and low EFR, so might be worth checking.

My cardio's (3) all lasted between 12-14 mths so good luck.

Out of curiosity can you let me know were you taking any drugs to maintain sinus between Cardioversions if so what dosage

when in AF I was taking 5mg Bisoprolol. After each cardio and back in sinus I had to stop taking it as my pulse dropped to about 40. No biso and my pulse was about 55-60. So it worked pretty well for me.

Sure...on the following:

Bisoprolol 9 was 7.5mg, now 5 mgm

Flecainide 50mg twice daily

Edoxaban 60mg once daily

Thanks everyone, its probably just me getting over concerned. Fingers crossed it works now for awhile at least!!....The other thing I have done is to quit the booze, although I drank very little. I don't want it to become a trigger

I have been on Beta blockers , bisoprolol, for high BP for many years. My resting heart rate is 48 in sinus mode. During my first episode of AF my resting heart rate was about 80. After my first CV this returned to 48. My first CV was effective for 18 months but my AF returned 4 months ago. I will get my second CV this week so here's hoping.

Just curious after your first CV you stayed in sinus for 18 months that’s good did you have any drugs to help stay in sinus during that time
