Glasgow EP?

Sadly, my lovely English EP, Dr Peter Stafford, has retired.

My paroxysmal arrhythmias look as if they may be returning after a big, sucessful, ablation three years ago- this time in the form of episodes of a very slow heart rate.

As I now live in Scotland and was discharged from Glenfield after my last ablation I'm reseaching EPs here. I live in a remote location on the west coast and Glasgow is the closest centre of population.

I think the NHS hospital for this area is the Royal Alexandria but can find very little info on their cardiology department. If necessary, I would consider a private appointment. I had a bad experience with an English cardiology department before being referred to Glenfield many years ago.

Any advice, PMs, or suggestions, would be most welcome.

Many thanks,

J

Hello ijan,

I also live in a very rural area of the West Coast of Scotland, near Oban.

I had a private ablation with Dr Gary Wright at Circle Healthcare Ross Hall, in Feb. 2022.

Unfortunately he discovered I have a congenital problem which made the procedure more difficult and I had Oesophiitis for a long time after the procedire which interfered with my recovery. In November, knowing I could't afford another private ablation, he offered to refer me to the Golden Jubilee Hospital, where he also operates with the NHS.this was doen 8 weeks ago and to date I have been fine only 1 bout of AFIB ( which I have had for 7 years)

He is highly skilled and has infinite knowledge of many heart conditions.

The Golden Jubilee is an excellent hospital, and the staffing team are truly wonderful, but as with all hospitals now they are extremely busy.

I would recommend a private consultation 1st, even privately he is very busy, therefore I would expect and NHS appointment to take a very long time.

Wishing you good luck.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience; your reassurance makes a big difference. I've booked a consultation with Dr Gary Wright in January, the earliest available appointment. Its unlikely I'd be able to take a short notice cancellation as I live on an island, not far from you, where ferries and flights are often full booked.

Wishing you a smooth and full recovery.... take it steady.

Thanks again,

Jan

Dr Gary Wright is my EP. Based in Glasgow. He is a consultant at three NHS hospitals and has a private clinic at Ross Hall hospital. Experienced, compassionate, easy to talk to. I recommend him without reservation.

Thank you! I've booked an appointment, by telephone, initially, as I live in a remote location.
