Hi everyone I had my cardioversion today and it was successful. Thank you everyone for your support and you were all right it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined.

When the consultant came to see me before discharge he was a bit perturbed! He said I was shocked three times and didn’t convert straight away it was only when I got back to the ward and they did the ECG I was in NSR he said this has never happened to him before a delayed reaction! But as he said it doesn’t matter it was successful.

Just got to hope it stays this way now 😊

Great news Patch, better late than never! Now take it easy, so easy to forget and overdo it!

Glad to hear success in your treatment. I had my 3rd one last Saturday. Although checked out following morning, its took me most of the week, to recover bit more mentally more than physical, made me more conscious again of every different feeling. Although pretty new to this chat forum, looking to understand from other who suffer Afib etc....Stay well 😁

It's good to hear that all went well. Please make sure that you don't do anything that requires effort for a few weeks, no huge meals, walking up hills or alcohol. Let your heart grow strong beating in it's correct rhythm, it's so easy to slip out of it right now. Take care.

Had cardioversion Wednesday with Dr Hayward, went back to NSR first time and so far still ok. Trying to be good and take it easy

Oh Meg I answered your post and then lost it, so here I go again.

I had 3 ablations (last one in 2016) with Dr Hayward and a few cardioversions. Most of my cardioversions were carried out at my local hospital.

Really take note of the advice I've given above because it's so easy to flip back into AF. I once walked up a hill the day after one and went back into AF immediately, it's so disappointing when that happens. I once had two cardioversions in one year 4 years ago, then slipped back into AF and was told I wouldn't be offered any more. I was left in AF but it finally settled at a reasonable rate between 60 -90bpm.

I wonder why so many of you have to wait weeks to get a cardioversion. I have had 2 and both were administered immediately when I presented @ the ED. The first time, I was first given an IV calcium channel blocker, which failed to lowere my heart rate, then I was cardioverted. The second time, they went immediately to cardioversion. It worked the first time in both instances. I felt better immediately.
