I have osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis and since taking blood thinners have had worsening pain. I started with apixiban but couldn’t move after a while, then dagabatran, same, snd finally edoxaban. It’s tolerable but definitely got more pain. Hair thinning too! I try a TENS machine now as anti inflammatory meds not allowed. Wishing you well 🦊x
TENS machine is brilliant for pain. I have chronic neck and back pain and occassional sciatica - which literally cripples me. I have not noticed this has got worse since starting on anticoagulants. Exercise is key. gently does it for sciatica and not staying int he same position - whether sitting standing or kneeling in the garden for too long. Get up stretch and move regularly.
Not quite the same… I had continued nerve pain following root canal and it actually started affecting another tooth on my bottom jaw below it. I’d been on Apixaban for 1 month post CV. Upon cardiology review I was taken off Apixiban and within 2 days the nerve pain disappeared!
Yes. Very painful all along hips and sciatica points since apixapaban 7 weeks ago. Of course the doctors will say it is unrelated but it is not. I just sent out a DNA test for pharmaceuticals. I’m waiting to get back to see which blood is best. Hope your husband feels better.
Not sciatica but awful joint and muscle pain. I only had one episode of AF and my Cardiologist has eventually agreed that I can come off blood thinners. Within 3 weeks of stopping Apixaban all the pain had gone.Good luck finding a solution.
I don't know if it's related to apixaban but I've had at times severe sciatica pain and it's been so bad that the VA has given me a $20,000 machine called "replexa" that's supposed to take the pain away using it two times a day for 30 minutes but as far as I'm concerned the verdict is still out on whether it does or not. I do find that a heating pad helps tremendously as it relaxes the sciatica nerve. Have you tried that, it just might help him. Good luck and have a Blessed Day!!
