Stress echo after effects

I had a dobutamine stress echo on Sunday which was pretty unpleasant and triggered my paroxysmal AFib. The AFib reverted on Monday morning but I am not feeling well since. Did anyone else have any after effects please?

Hi, pleased to see i am not the only one, i had this same test on 8th May, and never felt so ill in my life, it brought on bad AF, i took my 2 bisoprol but had to get the busback home which takes hour and half. they were clearly concerned who did this procedure, and i believe they gave me too much of the stress drug, as it wasnt sending my h.rate up so kept pumping more in, then the whole lot hit my heart, i could see they were worried there were four opertors in there plus the main cardiologist.

I would never ever have an EKG stress done again, since then my bp, is much lower all the time, but my normal h.rate has increased all the time by 15 bpm. I asked them at the beginning could this affect my AF which is the PAF type, and they said no its unlikely, but i believe they made a mistake in the amount of the drug to speed my heart up, but who can argue with the NHS. its now 11 days since i had the EKG, and still having abnormal bp and h.rate readings all the time.

I too am glad I'm not the only one! 😊 Never again. I was very nauseous, pain in the back of my neck, sweats and it kicked me into the worst AFib I've ever had (I'm paroxysmal). It took ages to reduce my heart rate and I had uncontrollable shivering afterwards. Hope you feel better soon x

Thank you, i trusted what the leaflets said, i.e. painless and no after effects. I dont think we were the only two to have this adverse reaction. I wish i had never gone, yes i have the PAF type too. One of the other nurses in the hospital stopped me on my way out to the bus asking if i was alright as i could hardly put one foot in front of the other, was weak as kitten and light headed and they let me go home like that. As you say never again, Hope you are doing fine now. 👍
