There most certainly is Tom.
In the period leading up to seeing my EP for a check up, I always felt wonderful. The day after seeing him, back all the abnormal heart rates would come. Same if I wore a heart monitor, I swear I could climb mountains then. Of course once it was removed back came the erratic beats.
I think if we feel safe the heart behaves. I honestly don't give my heart a lot of thought these days and am so much better for doing that. Now I know that's not always possible if your heart is really misbehaving, that's when you have to use more medication and do the deep breathing right into your stomach, not chest.
Fear and also when I'm sat in the chair at the dentists will make my heart take off racing. Once I'm calm again it reverts back to normal sinus rhythm.

I think that there is without question a connection between mind and body when it comes to matters of AFib. Aprehension about the the perceived likelihood of an episode can only serve to bring it on through the medium of anxiety. The fear of what might happen encourages a physiological response, raised heart rate etc.It can become a self fulfilling prophesy.Yoga Deep breathing, mediation and low intensity exercise can counteract much of the above.

Yes. The mind, heart and gut are linked by the Vagus Nerve. How problematic your VN has become is very individual. Despite being virtually (just 2 short episodes) AF free for over 10 years now, I am conscious my mind has triggered more than one episode in the past probably caused by raised anxiety levels. So now, I religiously avoid stress situations in case it tips me over into AF.
