Back in 2020 I had covid which pushed my Afib into high gear. I spent a year not feeling up to par.
It was often that my legs ached and it was difficult to squat or to lift myself up without using my arms. I am not at all overweight and never had these difficulties before. I also will add that to me I didn't seem to be holding water. I did not have the stamina as usual and at times my breathing was a bit off. I felt not great most of the time. I eventually had an ablation which was a God send! But all this to say that in that year I loss so much muscle all over my body. I am so flabby now with no exaggeration. Is this a result of the Afib? Has anyone experienced this?
Thank You!

I think the old expression use it or lose it is also a factor. It’s much, much harder to regain muscle again but slow and steady and keep at it. I was diagnosed with a neuro muscular disease in 2014 and lost a LOT of condition. Had AF since 2005 & had COVID twice. I still have sessions with a physio after 10 years and focussing on all over conditioning and using the ‘snack’ exercise regime which various medics and physios suggested = 30 secs exercise then at least 2 mins recovery, I have gradually improved. I found swimming or water aerobics helpful as well as using light weights. I suggest you get advice from a good rehab PT specialist and keep celebrating the gains but also be prepared for a few setbacks.
Protein supplementation… this provides the building block for muscles.. declines with age… consider whey protein… which is the best solution if you cannot use chicken fish egg.
Mitochondria fuels the muscle cells and brain cells .. it’s the energy house so people with long term fatigue and weakness should suspect something going on at the cellular level… and the best all round fix.. is Astaxanthin… it is more powerful antioxidant than CoQ10… vitamin C.. vitamin E … and fuels sluggish mitochondria… I had long term ME and muscle weakness for years … Astaxanthin really is a game changer.
Because the heart has 5000 mitochondria in each cell and muscles have 2000 in each cell you may find this helps with Afib when used in conjunction with magnesium.
If you at least research these suggestions you will be better informed to make a personal choice..and perhaps see if they can help.. both very safe whey comes from milk … astaxanthin from sea algae.
