Hi. I’ve had a few long runs of af this summer. Cardiologist put me on digoxin, ceased Bisoprolol and kept me on apixaban. I’ve also been referred for ablation. Over the last few weeks I’ve had several bouts of af lasting up to three days. Rate has been under 100 but irregular rhythm made me tired/breathless. I’ve just come out of one and as we say in Scotland I’m not worth a button. I’m far more exhausted than usual when an episode ends and my stomach is v fragile which may be due to digoxin. Usually after an episode I almost bounce back. There is tiredness but not to this extent. I’m due to be in contact with cardiologist this week as I phoned his admin team but I wondered if anyone else experienced this crashing tiredness. Thanks.

Tiredness
Yes, AF can be very exhausting especially as you have had an episode for three days. It’s not just the AF but the anxiety that goes along with it that depletes all your energy. I expect you didn’t sleep properly either. You have tensed every muscle in your body and they are all retaliating. It’s good you are seeing your Cardiologist to ascertain if it is the change of drugs. I thought you had to taper Bisoprolol off gradually, but obviously your Cardiologist knows more about that than l do. Hope you soon feel better and good luck for the Ablation.
I don't so, because this is different, that call to your doctor will be the key to finding out what's happening. I gather that AF can affect the heart's output more in some people than others, and that might be the cause?

hello fellow Scot 👋. I was already in persistent afib before I was diagnosed. With mine I had terrible tiredness. Bisprolol made me even more exhausted. And so I was switched off that onto digoxin which was better.
hi MummyLuv ,
Just a quick question , has the digoxin ever make you breathless ?
Hope it’s still helping you.
Hi there. It didn’t but I am off it now after a successful mini maze surgery.
No. I get breathless when in af. Digoxin does upset my stomach sometimes. Was prescribed it because I was tachycardic and in af.
My experience with AFIB is fatigue and tiredness will persistently bug you on the path to an ablation. No matter the drug or the actual AFIB.I never felt I was on the fatigue mend until about six weeks after a successful ablation.
I think we underestimate the quantum this trauma has on our bodies.
Maybe nature's way of saying slow down!!
Yes tiredness is part of it.and some short breath.Thankfully i dont get it often. I hate it. I just experienced today for about 4 hrs.
