Atrial Eptopics

morning . I had an ablation 4half years ago and have been af free ! However over the last year or so I’ve seem to of developed what my cardiologist calls it an atrial eptopics . It seems quite similar to af , and it does sometimes zap me of energy and definitely makes me anxious. It can happen at any time really but more so when I’ve not slept well.

He did say this is quite normal but I’m a little concerned that this is going to go the same way

Thank you for reading

They are common and I found did make me feel as bad as I did with AF - they are skipped beats and considered benign unless they become almost every beat. Adopting and practising breathing techniques can help.

All of us get ectopic beats it’s just some people feel them more than others and they can make you symptomatic but there is rarely any treatment.

I had them for about 9 months following my ablation, which is very common, but they gradually faded away. The more you worry about them and focus on them the more they will bother you. I think of them as my heart hiccuping which makes me giggle.

Best wishes

Use diaphragmic breathing and slow to six or less breaths per minute for at least five minutes. Works a treat of you do it right.

I had my 4th ablation 2 years ago and have had masses of ectopics since. They are largely driven by stress of which I have a great deal these days. I find them very exhausting.

Iv had them 2weeks now nearly every day. As many as 4 per minute. Asked doctor for a 24 hour monitor and he wasn’t having any of it.! He was more interested if I drank energy drinks and Coca Cola.😳 which I don’t anyway. . I’m booked in for a ECG this morning at 9.30 at a different surgery.!!! And guess what , my heart hasn’t missed a beat this morning. As soon as I walk out that surgery my heart is going shout HI….IM BACK. 😡

Thanks for your reply . It seems as though your doctor is like mine unfortunately, why they only do a 30 sec ecg is silly & they fob you off with you'll be ok and sometimes they are unwilling to give you a monitor! I don’t have private health care but I do go private every year and get fitted with a 7 day monitor because of this . My eptopics are random but usually come about when I’m tired/ have worked hard & on a couple of occasions come on when I’m swimming & usually when this happens zaps me of energy & gives me anxiety , very similar to af & not very nice . I don’t have caffeine in anything. However it may be just coincidence or just me but it does seem this has all come about with me since I had a covid vaccine in 2021. Before that I’d not noticed anything and was going along fine .

Iv heard a few people say they were ok until having the jabs. But in my case I can’t blame my jabs because Iv been having them on and for years and years.!! Just had my ECG done by a lovely lady and although not a cardiologist she did say it looks spot on and a HR of 70 and it’s getting sent to the cardiologist where I had my ablations done.👍 I’d been home 30 minutes and started with missed beats lasting for 45 minutes then nothing since.!!! So far anyway.?
