Having had an ablation 3-4 months ago my heart seems to be working fine at the moment - fingers crossed.
There are, however, times - particularly when I am sitting quietly - that I have a heightened awareness of my heart beating. I don't remember ever noticing it before.
The rhythm is neither irregular nor particularly fast.
Is this psychological? Has my brain just tuned into feeling for my heart? Or is this some sort of warning of impending relapse?

Sadly all too common and bloody irritating especially when you hear it in your ears (pulsetile tinnitus). I think we AFers just get too darned aware of our hearts. Its fine when we are busy and rushing around as distraction counters it but give us no other stimulii and shoosh shoosh.
Hi, I can appreciate what you say having had an ablation at around the same time as you. You are probably hyper vigilant- I have been. The most reassuring source of information I’ve found is from Sanjay Gupta, York Cardiology, on YouTube. He creates short concise videos and explains things very well. He has several videos about the role of anxiety on how we perceive our heart rhythm, for example, but so much more too. There is one particularly good video with a colleague where they talk about ablation. Hope this helps.
