I know you have all been waiting with bated breath all day so thought I'd put you out of your misery ! ( only joking ,but I did promise to report back)Appt for 9.45 so got there quite early, all ready for a fight( extra heavy handbag ready for use as a weapon)
But they spoilt my fun as I was expected AND got taken in early. ( probably wanted to get rid of me asap)
Upshot is this:
During the first week of cutting Flecanide in half,I had 2 AF events, recorded these on my Kardia and also a couple of migraines, which I haven't had for a long time.
Long discussion and it was mutually decided to put me on RF ablation as a touch up. I mentioned that it was pretty gruesome when they did the cti line for flutter and I was not keen on a repeat performance! He said that this time would be much quicker doing the actual work, most time spent on careful mapping beforehand.
I said do you do GA and he said that not unless we have to(?)
So I then quizzed him about why I wasn't sedated. He looked surprised ( he didn't do the ablation ) looked at my notes and said Oh they only gave you 1 mg of(**?) They could have given you up to 10mg.
Hmm 'sometimes they hold back in case they have to do a CV'
'Well,if you can't guarantee proper sedation I'm not coming!' I said so it's now on my notes, clearly identifiable!
8 months wait, and he said we can review this,if you stay in nsr we may change the plan.
I shan't be telling my sons and their families until the night before,as they whitter and fret, and hover around me as if I am an invalid ,don't do that, don't do this etc ( lovely to be so lived but frankly irritating !)
So there we are . I feel great and ,touch wood, all seems settled again.
Keep calm and take the tablets!
Have a great weekend all!
Thank you as ever for your much appreciated support.
Dawn xx

I had a virtual appt today. T/call due at 11.45am. I moved patients around to be available and then sat there until 2.30pm with steam beginning to come out of my ears. Rang his secretary and left a voicemail saying I had to now go out so he'd have to ring on my mobile. He finally rang at 3.50pm, very apologetic but said it had been a very busy clinic today.
Clearly, you had sent them into a meltdown this morning so I blame you entirely for my delay π€£.
It's a good job we put our foot down about things as lots of peeps just accept what they are told.
Hopefully you won't have too long to wait. I take it that it wasn't the Prof you saw this morning then?
π€£. Not heard of Thomas. Must be a newbie. He's probably handed in his notice, then lay down with a cold compress and pint of creme de menthe after you'd gone π€£.
Funny you should say that, but when I first visited my dentist 20 years ago, I explained I was adverse to pain, and cupped my hand and said that last line........ I didn't actually grab his oojits though π.
A friend of mine (dentist ), had a medical doctor in the chair, a gentleman (the medic) not renowned for his empathetic character. My friend had made the mistake of not removing the burr from one of the handpieces on the stand. He turned quickly and caught his arm on this sharp little tool, in fact, it was impaled in his arm. With blood pouring down his arm and in severe danger of sepsis, instead of helping, the (do no harm) medic lay in the chair laughing his head off. I think it was the best laugh he'd had in years !
Thank you so much for letting us know how it went -we definitely needed to hear! You did so well with all your questions and necessary assertiveness. Iβm glad they seem to have pulled themselves together for this appointment
Hoping your heart stays calm now. - and maybe even no need for the touch up. But if you do, at least youβve got it clear about the sedation! (I canβt believe they only gave you 1mg - recently a gastroenterologist gave me 3mg of Midazolam combined with 3mg of something else just for an endoscopy!)
Great news about touch up.Im going the same way I think so will be interested to hear your progress.Im getting lots of Pacs and SVES also some tacky. My verapimil was stopped immediately after my flutter ablation last May and have done well since then but the horrible ectopic lumps and bumps are happening a lot.All day yesterday.X
Great news! Fingers crossed for you that you don't have to wait too long and more importantly you get properly sedated (and don't have to use your extra heavy handbag to make your point π ) X
