I’m 68 an d I was diagnosed with AF and had a successful cardioversion. I ran 4 days a week before AF and have just started training again (slowly) to reduce muscle soreness I use Pulsio compression boots but I’m not sure if I should still use them as I’m on blood thinning tablets.
I will be seeing the consultant in about three weeks but If any could offer advise that would be appreciated. Many thanks

When did you have your cardioversion? Having had quite a few myself I would advise not doing anything that requires effort for a few weeks and allow your heart to gain strength beating in it's correct mode (so easy for it to slip back into AF). No alcohol or over eating either.
I once walked up a hill the day after having one and immediately went back into AF. Too late to be sorry once that happens.
Thanks for getting back. Had the procedure two weeks ago and I’m walking/jogging 30 secs but at a very easy pace. Consultant said give it two weeks and jog not running. I check my HR every min
I had cardioversion a month ago and am back at week 3 of Couch to 5K. Feeling so much better now I can breathe. Consultant seemed happy with that too. Afraid i don't know about compression boots
Hi there, well done that’s fantastic on the running, so pleased for you. I walked/jogged 5k on Saturday so we’ll pleased with that. My breathing is fine now and HR is good. I’d got to the point where after 200 metre run my HR was 176 and I just couldn’t breath. All good now though. Keep up the good work on the running 😊
I had a CV in December the doctor said ease into exercise for the first few months. I started in 2nd week with slower walks about 10.30min per kilometre then brisk walks by week 4 about 9.30min per kilometre. I would try and keep HR under 130 in the first few weeks then In April i started on indoor bike and now do 10-15km a couple of times a week as well. My thinking is to keep max HR under 140. For my age at 65 my max HR works out to 155. Take it easy for first month or so
That’s really good, well done. I’m planning on taking it slowly and hopefully get back into races in the new year. Dr said no more PBs just steady runs so I’m ok with that as getting out running again even if slow is so enjoyable. Good luck for the future
I felt nervous first few months as you don’t know what the boundaries are, so slow and steady is what I did. Now it’s 7 months later I feel fitter and more myself if that makes sense. Make sure you don’t overdo sugars like Gatorade etc.. after a big day of golf and lots of sugary stuff I had a bout of ectopics for 5 days. I’ve become far more mindful about what I eat and drink and I believe that’s helped.
I have perm AF and though gps have said that's fine I can't get pas 32 mins for a 5k. I think because my heart is no longer as efficient as it was in converting fresh oxygen. As I am in perm AF I'm not worried about going back I to it from NSR, a distant memory.
