After 13 years my pacemaker is coming to the end of its useful life and I have been called for a replacement next week at my local NHS hospital. My current medication includes Apixaban, Sotalol, Candesartan and Furosemide. Past 80, little choice and am somewhat apprehensive of all that is involved. Anybody care to offer advice?

It really is a quick and simple procedure I would not worry about having it done.
I had mine replaced in April. The new scar was a bit sore for the first week, and you have to be careful for a few weeks raising your left arm and carrying heavy weights, but in all I was only at the hospital 6 hours and back home.
I think you will find it much more straightforward than you imagine. I had a revision after 6 months and in and out in a few hours. You may need to ask whether or not to stop your Apixaban - I was told just not to take my morning dose - I think they bridged me with injection and then I just took my evening dose.
Same as Tallgirl, bit sore for a few days and careful when using that arm but as not my dominant arm didn’t really restrict me for day to day living much, as far as I can remember.
I have had one replacement and will be due for another in a couple of years. The first one was done with only a local anaesthesia but I had a general for the replacement.
