Hi. Just thought I would tell you what happened to me last Sunday. I awoke at 5am feeling really odd. My heart was in fast AF one minute, then would plummet to zero bpm! This continued with me blacking out at times. I called 111. They sent an ambulance. I was taken to MK hospital where I became very popular! Everyone wanted to see my monitor going from 245 bpm to zero very frequently. They decided I had to go to the John Radcliffe heart centre. I was Blue lighted there. They gave me a drip to keep my heart rate high. I was in intensive care until my Apixaban wore off and they implanted a pacemaker on Tuesday. I was told my heart was stopping for 10 seconds at a time. I am home now and feeling very reassured that my heart doesn't drop below 60bpm. I can now take my AF mess without worrying. I cannot thank MK and JR enough for my treatment, they were wonderful! Sorry for the long post, but I thought it may help someone. Love to All.
Pacemaker: Hi. Just thought I would... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Pacemaker
so pleased to hear you are now safe and sound!!
Wow, what an event Marina! That must have been really scary for you to experience. So glad you received such good service from both the hospitals. Did you have the slightest hint of this low pulse before that day?
Wishing you well.
Jean
I've had a similar experience, long pauses leading to unconsciousness, and it was no fun at all.
What a frightening experience - all behind you now. Stay well.
Wow impressive! So glad ypu aer OK now. Take it easy.
Thats what we like Marina winners, winners and winners 🙂🙂🙂
Wow Marina you’ve won first prize there. Must have been frightening. So glad you got such good service and reassurance. Take it easy now and rest. xxx
Excellent service and hopefully you will feel the benefit of pacemaker generally, I certainly have.
Thank heaven that is over and you can relax now
Yikes! I would have been terrified. Glad to hear you have been sorted out. Very scary situation to be in.
Mine was a bit like yours, fast, low and stopping / paused at times although not quite as dramatic as yours.
Wow! How scary is that!! So glad it was sorted quickly for you.
Very similar experience but never actually face planted, came close a few times though. Have had my trusty pacemaker for several years now and it's scary how quickly the years pass as you edge closer to a battery recharge situation 😳
Just shows you can't take anything for granted, glad your better now ,keep well and good luck to you.
Glad you are ok. Sounded very scary. Xxx
Pleased to hear everything turned out well. Very similar thing happened to me. Pacemaker keeps me going when I go into AF and I find I can carry on with life regardless. Touching wood when I say I haven’t seen the inside of A&E for nearly two years since having pacemaker. Before that I would nearly pass out during AF sessions and end up there regularly.
My goodness, what an experience! I'm so glad you're doing better, both physically and confidence-wise, knowing the pacemaker is helping. The medical facilities sounded very efficient and experienced.
That must have been so scary for you. Very pleased you are now feeling more confident with a Pacemaker. Good luck x
Nothing as been more comforting to me than my pacemaker. I don't know why people resist or question getting them. They stop your heart from going to zero, which is cardiac arrest and death if you are not restarted asap. After having 4 cardiac arrests, I am so glad they gave me pacemaker. I LOVE my pacemaker!
How frightening! So glad you’re feeling better.
Had no idea this could even happen! Thank goodness you and the hospitals acted so quickly for this hopeful outcome.
