Has anyone had extreme soreness after their ablation?

I had my first ablation 8-21. When I came home from the hospital, my husband had to make me stay on the couch for the rest of the day. I felt like a brand new person-ready to go! That lasted till March of this year when AF returned. My Dr wanted me to try multaq. I could not function well on multaq. I run two small business and got very behind and also lost my confidence in doing what I have always been able to do so well. So naturally, my EP suggested another ablation. Same highly regarded Dr performed the procedure at Duke. But this time, when I came home, I felt like I ran 20 miles with no practice and like I did 200 sit ups incorrectly causing back pain. I am sore all over and have a hard time getting up. I have no chest pain. I have been doing yoga my whole adult life. You would think with all that stretching that this would have been a breeze again. I know a lot of people on this forum have had several ablations so I am curious to hear if others suffered extreme soreness on their second one or if the recovery was the same as the first for them. Thanks....

I've had three ablations and didn't suffer any pain afterwards from any of them. The first two weren't successful, but the third did help a bit. I'm now in constant low level AF between 60-90 but feel quite well and there's nothing I cant do.

I too am wondering why you should feel so sore, it's strange. The only thing I can think of is maybe a bit of an infection in the area where the catheter passed up.

Not uncommon. You may have been placed in a different position this time around which threw your back in spasm and you're now feeling the after effects. . Notify your doctor tomorrow and they may suggest a suitable treatment if needed. Your Yoga background should help in recovery, but no head stands yet :)
