Hi Trixie, you may need to give it 1 - 2 hours to work (it takes longer with tablets than with IV doses). Don't worry if it takes a bit longer, though - the product spec says it can take up to 4 hours to get to maximum effectiveness.

In the past it has taken normally around 5 hours for me.

It always took almost exactly 90 minutes to kick in and stop my AF in its tracks when ever I took it as PIP. As others have said, IV is a lot faster but needs to be very carefully controlled. In the meantime, RELAX, do not stress, drink a lot of fluids with electrolytes (I recommend DIORALYTE, the no flavour one, the only one without chemical crap and the worst for us AFibbers, artificial sweeteners).

I like to help things along taking some Mg Chloride solution, you can buy a very good brand of it in the UK easily (also in Australia) and this was a God-send for me when I was at my worst with arrhythmia. It really does help.

Let us know how you go, cheers!

I have never heard of the interesting drink you mention- where do you get them please as it seems a good thing to have around?

Just checking.....did you take it on an empty stomach (say 3hrs after a meal) and not eat for 1hr after swallowing the pill?

Don't know how many episodes you are having but the more you have the less likely Flecainide PIP is to work and a daily dose may be better......my cardiologist's advice to me.

I didn't realise about the eating. I did take it on empty stomach but did eat 30 mins after rather than an hour. Seems to have worked ok in that timeframe but I better stick to recommendation of 1 hr later. Thankyou for sharing this.

You take the PIP dose as soon as you go into afib. If you want to take a daily dose on an empty stomach, that's ok, but not necessary.

Ah thankyou for clarification. I've been put on a daily dose 😊

In the US, instructions say "with or without food"

For me it usually ends AF episodes in a couple of hours and do hope it works that way for you but we are all different.

I took that for a year and it takes a couple of weeks! They put me on Multaq because my heart was thicking from high blood pressure and could no longer be on it!

It should work in 1-2 hours but sometimes takes alot longer - 13 hours after a 2nd dose at 11 hours.

I found to take it at 2 hours in and it works in 2 hours, If I took it immediately it used to take 10-11 hours
