I am being referred to Basildon hospital with a view to the above procedure
There must be some people who have had this procedure & I would like them to share their experience with me - not only about procedure itself but also what life is like afterwards & any restrictions it imposed on life I am particularly interested in if it restricts swimming in the ocean for example
Thanks in advance

A pacemaker does have some limitations, for example I'm not allowed to do electric welding any more! lol 😁 That and stay away from induction hobs but I did manage to shock myself last week whilst dyno testing an engine and still here . Once all healed up you would need to discuss activities with your doctors but I can't see a problem with wild swimming unless you meet an electric eel.
Had both done six months ago at 84. Now off all meds except for anticoagulant and BP. No more AF and sleepless nights. Go for it as it's the best thing I ever did 😊
No experience myself, but if you use the Search 🔍 option at the top of the page, using similar words to your Post title, then you will read hundreds of testimonials that should answer your query. Good luck.
Hello Koladog, yes had Pace and ablate, prior to this in AF I was restricted in many things due to the tablets I was taking, especially Bisoprolol which made me very weary and feeling tired most of the time.
After the procedure I am back to my normal activities, golf 3 x times per week, and the only tablet for AF is Apixaban a blood thinner.
I’m waiting to see a cardiologist who did my 3 ablations, last one 2017. Over the last few months my heart rate is consistently between 39 and 220. I have NO symptoms and often don’t know when I’m in Afif other than my Apple Watch telling me. I take 90mg of diltazem and 20mg of zeralto. My GP is concerned about the low heart rate of 39 and mentioned sudden cardiac arrest as a concern. I have a halter test next Friday to determine if I’m still going in and out of Afib or if I’m now persistent. He believes I’m a candidate for a pacemaker and AV node ablation.😳 I’m 70 years old, very active and don’t feel sick and never have since being diagnosed in 2010.
