Poor recovery from ablation followed by covid

I had an ablation in early October but never seemed to recover from it and never got my energy levels back. I told my EP about this during the 3 month follow up by phone and he suggested a 7 day holter test but warned of a wait and I'm ststil waiting . 6 weeks ago I went down with covid and am struggling to recover. I have no energy whatsoever and find it difficult just to get myself showered before my energy runs out. I am 70 and during the summer, even with AF, I was walking the dog a couple of miles. I now find life very difficult and am really struggling Can anybody relate to this and give me hope that things will improve.

Was the ablation successful in terms of stopping your afib?

Yes it was but I honestly had more energy when I was in Afib before the ablation.

Similar situation to mine. Had an aflutter ablation 10 weeks ago and have less energy now than before. In my case I think it's a side effect of the anesthesia and hopefully things will improve with time. Were you under general anesthesia or conscious sedation and do you know what they used? I was under MAC (monitored anesthesia but no breathing tube) and they used propofol, which is also used with general anesthesia. Hopefully, you will get your energy back with time, but because of the Covid, may take longer.

I was under full anesthesia but don't know what they used. This was my third major operation in 11 months and I recovered quickly from the others. I had a gall bladder removal Nov 2021 whilst I had AF and a mastectomy January 2022 whilst in SR. Maybe a third operation in less than a year was asking too much of my 70 years old body.

Tell your GP how you’re feeling, could be nothing to do with ablation except as you say, last straw!
