Atrial Flutter?

I had a very similar experience. About four weeks after my RF ablation my heart rate jumped from a very steady 60 to a very steady 135. ( I have an I CD that maintains my heart rate at 60) my EP called, said I was in atrial flutter, and did a cardioversion the next day to shock me back into a normal rhythm. It worked fine, I’ve been back into a normal rhythm for the past six months, and they sedate you for the cardioversion so there’s nothing to it! Contact your EP.

Was this intended to be a new post or were you responding to "afib girls" post from yesterday? Not that familiar with ICDs, but aren't they supposed to control rate, as well as convert arrythmia's like aflutter? Or don't they work with aflutter?

yes my apologies. It was meant to be a response. And yes an ICD in my case is an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator which controls my heart rate and is there to shock me in the event of anything drastic. It sometimes CAN pace you out of flutter but in my case, at 135 bpm, they didn’t feel that was likely and didn’t want to fool with it

Jim, back along an ICD was an implantable cardiac defibrillator. Now they use the term as Implantable cardiac device and then add P or D to that to define pacemaker or defibrillator. It confused the heck out of me for a while especially when they started doing both.
