Re Bisoprolol to Solatol

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply to my query about changing from Bisoprolol to Sotalol. I have spent a long time worrying about it as it’s true that Google gives us mixed messages about Sotalol. Of course, not all the remarks on Google are up to date, and to be frank, if you read the advice leaflet that comes with Paracetamol, it looks alarming ! The pharmaceuticals have to cover themselves for all eventualities as some people would sue if it just made them sneeze. I take heart from most of your messages. As usual on this forum, people have been supportive, informative and honest. Where else can we get all that ? My cardiologist hasn’t mentioned ablation for a couple of years but has twice suggested Sotalol if the Bisoprolol fails to continue the good work. He has notified my GP and told him what dose to give. I won’t put it off any longer and will ring on Monday to try and get an appointment. I am fortunate that the Afib isn’t at all bad but I feel lazy, sleepy even when relaxing, though able to do normal things. I have a sneaky feeling that it’s the ‘winter blues’ some of the time. I certainly feel a bit more pathetic when I am not busy ! Thanks everyone ! 👍

I know exactly what you mean. I spent four hours today running in and dyno testing a race engine like a nervous dad watching their child take their first faltering steps and never once sat down or even stopped for a drink. Get home and sit down and promptly fall asleep!

(They are my children even though my sons now build quite a few of them ) .

I have been taking Sotalol 40 mg twice a day since 2014 without any problem so hopefully it will work well for you too

swopped to sotolol years ago from bisoprolol and flecanide. I was terrified to take the first tablet after all I had read but I didn’t have any problems and was on 240 mg a day at one point! Following latest ablation I am back to a small dose only but for me it has been a good medication. X
