It’s mid February and I have had 1 AF episode since August.

That’s an improvement for me so what happened?

I got fired from my job with 4 weeks notice for refusing to do things which are illegal.

(Court case is ongoing, I sued them)

However, this gave me a massive stress dump, in that I don’t have any since being fired.

All I have been doing is flying my drone and working on my YouTube channel.

Anyway, the moral here is that if we do what’s right when something goes wrong for you, you may get unasked for side effects.

Having no money and no af is better than having money/stress and Af.

I hope you old timers are well, I’ve been here for a loooong time!

Seriously, ditch what ever stresses you. It’s revelatory for me. I don’t care I am broke! I’ll take stress free any day!

Good to hear from you even in such difficult times but glad your health is improved.

It's good to hear from you Jap and that your heart is behaving. I've been wondering about you after I'm hearing so much praise about a surgeon Dr Ohtsuka in Japan who is doing the mini maize to prevent AF.

When I retired from work at age 62 I was paranoid that I was going to be financially very poor, but soon discovered that I was fine and could do everything I wanted.

I don't blame you for refusing to do something that was illegal - good for you.

Do you still love Japan?

Hello. I am new here and early in my AFib experience. Just wanted to say hello as a fellow foreigner in Japan! Didn't expect to see another one. I am probably having an ablation soon - can I ask, did you have yours in Japan?

I did yes, I had a radio frequency ablation for flutter and afib in Japan. Send me a PM if you have any questions

I may well do that! Still not really sure what all this involves but hopefully will be clearer after my consultation in a couple of weeks.

Hello Japaholic. I had my thoracoscopic mini-maze surgery in Tokyo almost three months ago and all is still in lovely NSR (a three month update on the 22nd February).

When did you have you catheter ablation and how have you been?

in 2015, I was pretty bad before in AF 5 days from 7 - more AF than not.

As far as symptoms go, I saw about an 80% improvement after the ablation, huge reduction in the number and severity of my episodes. While I still have AF it’s not as strong, palpitations feel experientially weaker.

I did try to stop the meds under supervision but attacks immediately got more frequent.

I got my life back, hiking, swimming having no problems exercising. It was great.

So not fixed but much improved.

Great news. I have no doubt stress contributes big time to reaching the AF threshold. My non-scientific reasoning is the degree stress affects you depends on the degree of Vagus Nerve sensitivity. Reducing your stress considerably means you now probably have a bit of a 'safety cushion' before AF kicks in even if you overdo things in other areas eg late heavy meal or over exercise....not that I am encouraging those 🤣
