With the pain of the tragedy in Turkey and Syria. I've wept loads watching the news as I guess we all have. It's so heart-breaking to see people, especially children pulled out of the rubble that was their home. My misery has certainly upped my heart rate, but what a minor thing that is to what those poor people are going through. Let us give thanks if AF is the only thing we have to worry about.
Thank you God/Fate/the Universe/Whatever, that I live in a safe country and have a warm home. How blessed are we?

It is truly heartbreaking. And it upsets me that yet again greed on the behalf of the construction industry. Saving money rather that build house first for the condition of the country. Many lives could have been saved if only …
Not just greed - corruption too. There are laws that cover building regulations to make houses and blocks of flats earthquake resistant that are not being enforced. I bet Erdogan's 600,000,000 euro palace has adhered to them. Apparently he's none too pleased about the reports that show these poor people begging for help. Cares more about his upcomjng re election chances than helping his people.
With all the wars and natural disasters that keep occurring I give thanks I am fortunate enough to live in this country with my health problems.
In all these countries not only do the people have to deal with the war or disaster there is no doubt a similar proportion of the population who have exactly what you all and I suffer health wise.
I donated 2 days ago. Chose Red Cross because DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) had not set up a fund yet. Just saw on The News that DEC APPEAL has now been set up.
I was listening to a description of an A&E in one of the disaster areas and thinking that though no doubt our health system needs improving I am thankful for what we have.
Well said jean; With faith in GOD we can face anything that is thrown our way, it's those that don't have faith in HIM that my heart and soul cry out and sorrow for! GOD Bless!
Absolutely awful and heart wrenching. Not only is there the unimaginable grief and devastation of the now, but what happens with the survivors and their future? Do they have emergency housing, food, money etc to turn to or offered to them? Who cares for and supports the orphans when whole families have gone?
I have so much to be thankful for, so very much indeed.
it is a horrendous nightmare for those poor people and their country. Hard to watch for the rest of us. All we can do is pray for them and help as much as we can. I donated to Doctors Without Borders and planning on giving to Unicef. If everyone gives a little it will help a lot.
I have a friend who is married to a Turkish man. He was there visiting his family when the earthquake happened. You can imagine what a state she was in. Fortunately they were all safe in the north of the country but his sister and her children slept in a tent, not daring to go back into the house until it was simply too cold and they had to go back indoors.- lucky they had a house left. IT's snowing and freezing. Another sister drove into the countryside to a village of much smaller houses and relative safety. He himself managed to fly home next day. My heart bleeds for those who were not so lucky.
Lets not forget too those in Ukraine similar conditions which are sadly man made.
Yes it is so awful. we have made a monetary contribution to help and are just about to make another and this afternoon are going to sort out some winter clothes to donate to a charity taking supplies out to them.
