has anyone had a problem getting motoring insurance following a stroke when they have been given the authority by their consultant as there is no evidence of visual or motor deficits?

Try contacting the Stroke Association. An academic who specialises in storke related visual issues, has said that your car insurance is not allowed to increase if the DVLA have cleared you to drive Group1 (car and motorcycle).

After I had clearance to drive, letter from gp sufficed, I told my insurance company who said there was no problem and no increase in premium, that was Aviva
