High TSH level, 5.2, after ablation

Has anyone had a high TSH level after an ablation. Had ablation 4 weeks ago. Now have TSH level of 5.2. Other than that have been in rhythm except for couple of times.

Depends what it was before and how you feel. Mine went up 50% between 21 and 22. 2nd ablation in 22 as it happens but I've been borderline for 7 years. Medication for hypothyroidism may impact on HR so any decision to take a version of thyroxine needs to be made in conjuction with your EP or cardiologist. I've just started on the lowest dose of levothyroxine after 6 months in Sinus rhythm and my TSH was 7.4. So far, so good.

Thanks. Mine was in range on thyroid meds before ablation but now out of range at 7.2. Guess I will need to discuss with cardiologist.

Odd isn't it? I'd never considered that what appears to be a successful ablation might impact on thyroid levels. Unless a heart working more efficiently (which is a joy) makes a bigger call on the endocrine system and the pituitary is working overtime to keep up...If you find out about a link, do let us know. Do you have an endocrinologist? They might be able to throw light on the matter

Ahh. That's a thought. I think mine started after a nasty bout of shingles back in 2014. No thyroid problems previously. Hopefully yours might settle down with a bit of TLC?
