Yeah I've tried it. Didn't work. Nothing really does though for me. Tried all the suggestions.

Hi, I’m new to AF, waiting for diagnosis from cardiologist (which may take months) very anxious and trying yoga to prevent AF, but no luck so far, so trying to do more often or it’s back to doc for anxiety medication 😔 I think Migraine is causing my AF.

Have you tried a Valsalva Maneuver as soon as the AF begins? I find that very effective.

Love my yoga. Never got me out of AF though. Alternate nostril breathing us calming, might help. I have other breathing strategies that I use in AF. Humming also helpful which can be part of yoga too.

for low level AF there’s one position I find helps me ( who knows what it’s called) . I lie on the floor , arms outstretched knees bent up. And then as my knees go one way my head goes the other and with correct breathing all resolves quickly and I feel relaxed.

I also attend a yoga breathing class once a week which helps generally with my health.

This all has worked well for me the last 18 months …. Plus !

Also 3 light work outs a week cardio and weights.

Exclusion of caffeine ( last 10 years)

Almost total exclusion of wine ( I may lick the inside of a glass at Christmas for old times sake!)

I’m no longer working so annoying people are no longer part of life.

Meds are a blood thinner, a statin and bisop (as a pip ) very occasionally.

Work still needed on anxiety and sleep.

Yoga definitely a large part of this mix.

Hi I regularly practice yoga and on occasion I found the standing forward bend helped - can be contraindicated however for people with bp issues, some heart problems. Recently I’ve been doing series of postures which open up heart space - heart had been misbehaving, tachycardia and AF for almost 6 months in spite of flecainide , now back in rhythm though for how long is anybody’s guess. I definitely think there’s a connection and there have been studies I believe which suggest yoga can lessen frequency and severity of AF events. IMO worthwhile finding a teacher. Found windmill breath and equal ratio breathing help me as well as nostril breathing as Singwell suggests. Interestingly there’s also a study bring setup at the moment to explore the benefits of tai chi.

I sit cross legged leaning forward until it actually hurts, then breathing fully in and fully out. It brings my heart rate down and out of AFib in a 3-5 minutes. The fully out is the most helpful part, fully out and shallow breathing part stops my rapid heart rate into conversation.

Yoga wont get me out of AF but can cause me to go into it. If I bend over forward, especially after having something to eat or drink, I've been known to go into AF. I luckily have not had AF for the last 3 years (after an ablation), however, if I bend over my heart does skip some beats and I do get some ectopics which in the past would have progressed into AF.
