Had a afib attack first one in 5 years spent 11 hours in A&E heart beat was between 170-140 doctor phoned cardiologist and they converted my heart rate with flecanide which was successful!!!! I am on no drugs for my afib My heart rate is in sinus rhythm but 4 days after my chest still aches ,l have been told I have to see the cardiologist for a chat which is fine by me oh forgot to tell you I have had a successful cryo ablation until now !!! Has anybody experienced the chest ache after flecanide?

I am also very stressed with work and a family bereavement.

Wow five years! Good run to say you have had just the one cryoablation. Could be just a one off due to the stress you have been under, and maybe your cardiac nurse will put you back on the meds for a short period of time to settle things down. If the AF does sustain itself, you can be confident that a second ablation should be successful due to the longevity of your first ablation. Here’s hoping things settle down for you. The chest ache could possibly be just an ache of the muscle due to the length of the AF. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. All the best.

I had IV flecainide too to convert me from a nasty bout of SVT. My heart rate was 298 beats per minute, on and on it went but the flecainide put me back in normal sinus rhythm thank goodness. I also had to have IV morphine for the horrendous chest and full body pain that accompanied the mad heart rate.

My chest and heart ached dreadfully afterwards. I guess its like running a marathon, your muscles hurt badly with the exertion so does our heart after a marathon Afib or SVT event. Cant blame it the poor heart muscle has been put through its paces much more intensely than it was designed to do.

I suspect that is more the cause than the flecainide per se. So pleased it worked for you and you have had a long trot Afib free, well done you.

Yes I have those heart rates whenever my SVT kicks in, feels as though I am going to die and to be honest when it first happened I rather wished I would die to get away from the extreme pain and loosing consciousness. Not fun, never get used to it. It brings such fear and anxiety.

Meant to say I bet the stress you have been under was your trigger especially after five years of freedom. Mine started during horrendous work stress and workplace bullying. Any lessening of worry, anxiety and stress will help you keep your heart friendly. Good luck. Take good care of yourself.

I've not had a high dose of Flecainide in that form but I agree with others your body is responding to a stressful situation. And I am sorry for your loss. You've done so well in the last 5 years - look after yourself and hopefully things will settle down.

When I was first in hospital with AF they converted me with IV flecainide and I had no chest ache afterwards but then my heart rate was not as high consistently, just the occasional bounce to those levels. I suspect you have nothing to worry about.
