Hi

What meds are you on.

I got breathless on Metropolol. Earlier with first line BP.

Bisoprolol is not associated with breathlessness. Do you have an enlarged heart?

cheers JOY. 73. (NZ)

I take amiodrone and Exoban ( can’t think how to spell it) also I have Bisoprolol

Other posters have reported lung problems with amiodarone in the past, so it might be worth pursuing this as a possible factor.

hi mate . I get it the palpitations in the evening sat down or laying down in bed . I can walk 8 miles and nothing but I get the breathing issue if I walk up a incline a little some days but other days it can be with me all day . Some days I close my mouth and no issue other days I can’t count to ten with it closed . I’m 52 years old

one example last Wednesday I was breathless just walking around the supermarket 2 days later I walked for a good mile and 5 miles in the countryside no breathing issues

yes it’s like something drifts in to partially cut the oxygen then goes away mine is like breathing through a thick cloud at times with a strange feeling in my lower throat

I get that but it’s caused by allergy. Feels like fur in my chest. It is worse since I had Covid. Bisoprolol is unsuitable for asthmatics so if you have any tendency to that it could be the problem.

well Buttafly I have asthma and I had covid so it could be

I had a allergy test but it was only pollen and dust

Could I ask what your allergy is amd how do you deal with it

Thank you

I am allergic to lots of things. Mould is very bad so have to be careful gardening in autumn/winter, but my problem now is my cat. I did not have a big problem before because I take antihistamines anyway, but this is a new and very affectionate cat who insists on sleeping with me! My daughter wasn’t allergic to cats before Covid but now she is - weird. I have only just noticed the mention of Amiodarone. I hesitate to suggest that people read the leaflet but I think you should especially as you have bisoprolol on top. Looking at your report your heart isn’t in fantastically good shape so I guess your doctors have to make a hard judgment. Maybe an in depth discussion (ok mad idea I know 🤣) is called for.

The strange thing with my heart is the lack of help so much so I have gone to PALS to see if they can help me due to no medication reviews infection nothing to February . To me although it’s not in heart failure ( my BNP is 180) it does need help smd the correct medication

PS Forgot to say I have two inhalers - one combination and one Ventolin only plus detailed instructions on when to panic!

Could it possibly not be heart-related, but instead allergies (which affected me in early Oct.) that produce the same symptoms? Just a thought.

in a way I hope so. 2 cardio doctors and my GP have both said I do t ha e heart failure but do need to look at diet lose a bit of weight etc .

So I’m thinking it could be allergy related

I hope that's the case. Best of luck to you.

If it is allergies causing lot of mucous in your lungs you could try NAC -N acetyl cysteine. This helps make mucous more fluid .

I get breathless, and tight around my chest and back. I thought it was caused by Apixaban, so changed to Xarelto but it hasn't cured it.
