Pheasant Cure!

Well that's a new one. I went into AF at 10pm last night and was still going at 8am this morning so I got up and made breakfast and did various jobs which sometimes puts me back into sinus but it didn't.I pottered up the garden to top up the bird feeders and didn't spot the male pheasant who was up there. He took off into the field with lots of flapping and squawking as they are good at panicking even though it's the food they are waiting for. It really made me jump as I didn't see the daft thing and voila back into sinus!

Is it my reward for feeding them for thirty years.😁 Wished I could send him to those that need reverting.💖

What an amazing instant cure for you! Yes, it's certainly your reward for feeding the birds.

What a great story, so pleased the “pheasant cure” worked for you, Windlespoons. A night of AF is no fun at all, so a very just reward for all those years of bird feeding😊 All I get here is an old crow who sits on my roof and tells all his mates when I’ve put breakfast out for them😀

We have lots of crows here. They hang upside-down on the feeders. Hilarious to watch. In the spring the youngsters are so noisy wanting the parents to still feed them when they can't be asked to peck the food up themselves.😁

They are certainly very entertaining, particularly, as you say, the antics of the “kids” in the spring😊

We have one called Tarquin who is VERY rude to us most of the time.

Lol. I love the name. Yes they can be very demanding. Even tapping the door to the conservatory with his beak, which winds the cat up no end! We had one that we called Percy that slept on the top of a fir tree near the house for years.☺️

Great! It reminds me of one of my school teachers giving one of my classmates a fright to make her jump. It cured her hiccups immediately!

Yes it sounds like it works for AF and hiccups lol.😄

Is it time for the Pheasant plucker song…. Maybe not 😁

Vagal AFIB at its finest.

Love your comment. I truly suspect my AF is vagal! It kicked off big style after resuming swimming since pre-covid. I suspect the new swim hat I purchased was too tight around the occipital ridge and my neck was feeling tight after the ‘unusual activity’ as I call it. I was in AFib for over twenty four hours, but went to the cinema to watch a live stream ballet (a friend drive me and the cinema seats are gorgeous recliners). It was absolutely gorgeous (truly heart lifting!!) and when I came out of the cinema I was back in sinus rhythm. Curious, eh?!?

Wow another amazing cure! I had a 24hr episode whilst we were at a hotel in September. As we went to meet a friend at a half way point I didn't want to miss out on too much so we ended up having a picnic in the room. I felt better after that. So maybe us relaxing is the key sometimes and a scary pheasant at other times!☺️

interesting a great outcome! the fright is like a ‘jump start’ for a car. For me exercise or hop in cold ocean had the same effect….

I like the ocean, but it doesn't sound so exotic if you have a paddle at Bridlington. 😁

Great one, I know exactly what you mean I am a country boy but still get startled on a walk when they suddenly break cover with a squarck. Sounds like you have vagally mediated PAF which can be advantageous with a few more tools in the box to stop episodes. I stopped an episode with a shock to the stomach, gulping down a cold drink straight from the fridge (as a pheasant wasn't around 😂).

That's a good word for the noise they make. In the absence of a handy pheasant in the future I will try a cold drink. You are right, mine is vagal.😊

Lol. Thank you. The little feathery monster did the same to me again this morning! I said thanks but I'm ok and don't want him to reverse his treatment.😳

amazing! Keep them nearby! 😎❤️

Windlepoons profile image
Windlepoons in reply to GardeningMK

They don't go further than the field at the end of the garden, as we feed them. It's nice because no one is allowed to shoot in that field so they stay alive. 😊
