Just saw this and thought some may be interested

I saw another article about this . Seems to be saying clot protection as good qs other anticoagulants and risk of GI bleeds reduced.
I am printing this out to waft in front of anyone from my GP surgery who tries to swop my Apixaban to anything else! Many thanks
You've got to be careful with these surveys. If you click on the survey it gives full details of the test. They tested 281320 on apixaban and only 12722 on edoxaban and the only difference in all the many bleed areas tested was less than 1% in the gastro intestine bleed. There was no difference in other areas such as the brain. Saying that there was more of a difference when looking at some of the other medicines
Yes, totally agree. People must make there own minds up, it is a large study.
It's really only for information purposes.
total of 527 226 new DOAC users met the inclusion criteria (apixaban, n = 281 320; dabigatran, n = 61 008; edoxaban, n = 12 722; and rivaroxaban, n = 172 176).
Apixaban use was associated with lower risk for GIB than use of dabigatran (HR, 0.81 [95% CI, 0.70 to 0.94]), edoxaban (HR, 0.77 [CI, 0.66 to 0.91]), or rivaroxaban (HR, 0.72 [CI, 0.66 to 0.79]).
This study compared people with AF AND valvular heart disease. I would suggest this is only relevant to those who have VHD as well as AF.
I have had concerns about apixaban since there were problems with the original Aristotle trial. It is a heavily promoted drug.
