Guys any one else had an ablation and after heart rate low I had one in July last year but last few months heart rate has been dipping down below 50 normally in around 42/44 been feeling off tiredness starting to creep back a lot dizzy spells and light headed a lot more haven’t had review from hospital yet from ablation was done just thought I’d reach out and ask others for there advice as I’m new to the whole AFib/Atrial flutter

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea afib and atrial flutter from what I was aware maybe 2 half years ago heart rate was shooting high and out of synus rhythm for 4/15 hrs at a time I’ve had 3 dc conversions done and the ablation I have changed my life style alot and lost weight etc so any advice welcome im 39 years old from Northern Ireland

I think if one is prone to arrhythmias then stopping one can cause another.

I went from AF to atrial tachycardia but whilst it is common to have raised heart rate post ablation there are people like yourself who become bradycardic and for those a pacemaker may be needed if it is extreme. Best talk to the arrhythmia nurse where your ablation was done or e mail your EP with your concern.

Hi there, my heart rate was In 40s in hospital after surgical ablation (mini maze) and sat around 50 for the first few weeks, it’s back up between 60 and 70 now (7weeks later) and only goes below 60 when I am sleeping.

Hi I also have Afib , low pulse and sleep apnoea. My pulse when not in Afib was normally about 50-55 and I thought this was cos I was reasonably fit. However it was due to a leaky mitral valve, so you may need a scan to see. Had valves repaired but pulse still low so pacemaker fitted to stop rate going below 60. Docs seem to think heart rate below 60 if you aren't a professional athlete is a sign of heart problems not a sign of fitness. Sleep apnoea a bugger cos that stops you getting good recovery sleep and puts additional strain on heart.

So my advice is get heart thoroughly checked, ordinary scan not sufficient you need a scan when your exercising and heart is working to see if it shows any other problems.
