Was postpartum hyperthyroid and now experiencing afib palpitations. Thyroid resul have been normal for sometime but symptoms 8 months after
Hi Stacey 38 years ago I too had post partum hyperthyroidism At that time I had two small children to care for and I thought if I told anyone how I was really feeling they would whisk me into an 'institution' so I carried on. The palpitations were really difficult. My husband said it might help if I went running. I quietly shook my head knowing that the last thing my poor heart needed was even more exercise. Thyroid tests came back negative even though I told the GP I had all the symptoms of thyroid probs after reading about it in a mag in the waiting room. It would be another three years of putting my family through hell before I was diagnosed. During those years I had both hypo and hyper symptoms. I think my thyroid levels were swinging all over the place. With hindsight I now know I should have asked for my TSH, T4 and T3 to be checked. Possibly more than once. I should have asked for a paper copy of the results and looked to see if my T3 and or T4 results were near the bottom of the normal range. If they were, I should have sat in the GP's office with a written list of all my symptoms (you will have many others apart from the palps I'm sure) and refused to move until they agreed to start treating me for a thyroid problem. My son was six when I was finally diagnosed. Even now I could weep when I think of those terrible times Don't waste any more time. Post your results on here if you are unsure. We will all be keen to help. Good luck.
Sorry you had such a bad experience yes I feel awful and it’s making me very unhappy I have previous tests when I was hyper and after
