I’ve been off Bisoprolol for over a week due to pharmacist’s incompetence and shortage of the drug, what are the consequences? I feel OK,

I think if there were going to be consequences- you might have felt them by now.

Ironically, feeling "ok" may be the consequence lol

I'm not saying you don't need bisoprolol, many do. But my opinion is that many people

are on beta blockers that don't need to be and the only consequence are unnecessary side effects.

I agree, my current Cardio agrees that I can take 125mg Biso if I feel need it(If my HR goes up too high), my AF is symptomless. I've for years taken 120gm of Verapamil as part of BP treatment and continue with that and that is wonderful, I no longer want to fall asleep all the time

Do you really mean 125mg of Bisoprolol, or should it read 12.5mg?

OOps ,Thanks - 1.25 mg- I really would fall asleep probably forever if it was 125mg!!! It's one half of a 2.5mg Cardicor tablet, as that's the smallest tablet available here !

You certainly would go to sleep for ever. I was worried about other people reading your post and thinking that dose was normal.

And rightly so !!!!! It was a silly mistake everyone, ignore it !!!

Are you monitoring your heart rate and blood pressure ? And your history of AF, persistent, paroxsymal, how long, etc ?

Sometimes AF can be silent.

My pharmacy, who I was with for years, suddenly made a big deal out of getting my medication. I wanted a particular brand that I knew worked for me. They would often take a week or more to get it. Then I went to Boots and they have never failed to get the medication I require by the next day. I'm so relieved that I now don't have the worry of running out of my pills.

Were you on a low dose of bisoprolol?

Jean

Higher HR, maybe even much higher and a minor increase in blood pressure. You'll feel good if you were previously not and then at risk of - possibly - an AF event.

I was on bisolprolol 2.5 for a few years ,I basically gave it up over a period of about a year,I feel great, no problems at all.check your heart rate,in my case it's always been low.

When I was being weaned off Bisoprolol I had to stop taking 2.5 a day, and take none for 4 weeks, then 1.25 for 4 weeks, then no more. I needed to come off as Bisoprolol caused urticaria. During the weaning it also caused exacerbation of Asta requiring emergency admission to hospital for about 60 hours. I don't take any beta blockers now.

HiThere is a shortage in NZ of Diltiazem - a CCB Calcium Channel Blocker.

Mthly each week of three I go in say I'm going on holiday so I get 3-mths supply.

Its life threatening if one relies on meds to stay alive.

It depends how yo are feeling but Bisoprolol is a milder med to reduce heart beat.

Whilst Bisoprolol reduced my heart rate by 30 hbm day, CCB Diliazem reduced by 100hbpm day. Bisoprolol pm 2.5mg.

We need more info - do you have persistent rapid AF. How much Bisoprolol do you normally take?
