Having my third ablation on Tuesday. Five years ago I had my first two that did not work. Then I went on Tykyson, which worked very well for a couple years. Then I had to come off taking some because the side effects and prolonged QTC. So I went back into persistent a fib. Only kicks in when I do any type of exercise. No trachardia episodes. But was just a movies got up quick to go to mens room BPM went to 125. Then dropped back to 70.

That has been my life for the last 6 months. So decided to go for third ablation on Tuesday.

I have a pacemaker as well. I booked a nice resort to relax that for a couple of days. Having a heated discussion with my wife she said I shouldn’t sit by the pool in the heat afternoon Ablation two days later. I told her I would sit in the shade.

It’ll probably be in the 90s.

Am I crazy or do you think it’ll be OK to hang by the pool not go in for a swim. obviously.

Need opinion.

Thanks all!

I did exactly the same after my second ablation, we had house in Spain. BUT I agree with your wife, stay indoors after 10-11 am, period. I stayed out of the sun completely because any time of day in summer is going to have repercussions in later life and stayed either in the pool with sun screen, glasses and hat on (my wound had healed as it was about 10 days after ablation) or in the air conditioning. To be honest, I think any benefit for me was cancelled by the travel stress. Couldn’t do it now as any temperature over 25C takes me out completely.

My husband was a sun lover but now had over 30 operations to remove skin cancers and the tops of both ears have had to be removed. Most people forget to put good sun screen on the tops of their ears.

If you do go stay really well hydrated.

Good tip about the ears. Toes too i find. Diltiazem also makes me more sensitive to sunburn- have myself heatstroke in 2020!

I think your greatest risk will be the temperature and risk of de-hydration. Stay cool , drink lots and lots of water (no alcohol of course) but do remember that anything that makes your heart work harder is going to be a risk so early after the procedure. Last time I went to Monza for a race and it was 33dgrees C my heart rate was up over 100 during the day till got back to my air-conditioned hotel room in the evenings.
