Pericarditis ?

I wondered has anyone developed pericarditis post ablation ? ☘️

Quite a rare complication but not unknown. Was this an RF ablation? Possibly a bit too hot close to the edge?

I had a PVI ablation, all 4 pulmonary veins and a large area at the back! It was hot enough to damage my vagus nerve and I had gastroparesis the next morning which lasted over a year and I still have to a lesser degree.

I also had, the next morning, what I now know are pericarditis symptoms which I thought was part of the ablation recovery. My ablation was Oct 21.

Yes I did. Very un nerving while it went on. Sharp pains in heart area but it went after a few months. Once you know what it is, you feel better!

My echo day after ablation showed pericardial effusion but they decided it wasn’t bad enough to keep me in.

Yes. I had an auto-immune type response to one of my ablations. I ended up with pericarditis and eosophagitis.

I was put on a course of Colchicine and Prednisolone to get the pericarditis under control.

Yes I did. Took colchicine for three months as an anti inflammatory. Haven’t had any pain since 🤞

Yes I had pericarditis with effusion and oesphagitis after RF ablation three & a half years ago. Treated with colchicine and metoclopramide. Peri pain lasted for approx a year but still have trouble with types & quantities of food.
