Hi

I’ve been posting about being in af after Covid. Finally have a prescription for Digoxin 125mg. Just wondering about best time in day to take it? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hiya jd, I’ve been on digoxin for 10 years+ and always taken it in the evening. As I understand it most people take it in the morning but anytime that suits you so long as it’s approximately the same time each day. Good luck with your new meds.

I took it in the morning, no reason other than if I forgot had a chance to remember later 😂😂

Take mine in the morning as advised but don’t think this matters as long as you take it around the same time, but I think this is so you don’t forget to take it.

I take it in the morning, as advised by my Cardiologist.

I hope it's 125mcg not 125 mg ;-) . I took my dose for my high heart rate caused by atrial flutter along with bisoprolol and rivaroxaban with breakfast in the morning. It was a bit of a wonder drug for me, and I remain grateful to a wonderful member here for telling me about it.

Do you still take any meds now please as I was told to totally stop the verapimil after my recent flutter ablation.Obvs I still take the apixaban.

Hi - as well as daily rivaroxaban, I now only take bisoprolol as needed rather than daily. After my ablation for atrial flutter, I was told to stop all drugs but, within a week of doing so, I had my first ever (?) attack of AF which took me back to hospital. Luckily a single dose of bisoprolol eventually stopped that but it meant that I had to resume the rivaroxaban, which I still take.

I take mine in the morning as it's in blister packs and marked for breakfast. Does it instruct you from the pharmacy on your packaging?

No. Just says one a day.

I take mine in the morning. My instructions don't specify - just says once/day.

I forgot to mention that my instructions say not to take digoxin within 2 hours of eating food containing fiber. Since I like fruit with breakfast and/or lunch, I take my digoxin mid morning, usually 10 am. That might influence when you decide to take your dose.

Fiber. I have not looked at that carefully, but when they started me in hospital I was taking Witabix for breakfast. What I do is prioritise Digoxin, along with bisoprolol. I take it before I tuck in."Digoxin has an oral bioavailability of approximately 75%, although intake efficacy might diminish when taking digoxin with high fiber foods. Some patients possess gut flora that metabolizes digoxin to dihydrodigoxin, thereby decreasing the drug's absorption."
